1. Wow...I thought this was something he said years ago NOT recently. |
Doesn't make it any better, but still the guy doesn't mature with age.

2. Well, 8 years ago anyway. |
I'd say that's still pretty scary, and it ties very directly, IMO, into the hate we are seeing spew from the McFailin campaign in the last few days.

5. What's sadder is the self-hating Vietnamese exiles who applauded him. |
Granted, they aren't representative of many, but there were Vietnamese who leapt to his defense, and even uttered the insult themselves. Sad sad sad...

7. Eight-year-old racism still deserves to be news -- when the racist is running for prez. |
And, of course, the racist term he used was not just used to refer to prison guards, nor just to North Vietnamese, but to all Vietnamese. But the U.S. was ostensibly in Vietnam to "defend" the "freedoms" of South Vietnamese. So, McCain hated (and swore to always hate) those whose "freedom he was defending"?
And there are millions of Vietnamese refugees in the U.S., many of which are now U.S. citizens. Even in 2000, he wanted to run for prez; but he still used a racist term that insulted an important ethnic group in this country. Yes, that should still be news.
