Today I Saw A McCain/Palin Sticker on a Prius. |
|
Color me nonplussed.
Meanwhile, I can see how Republicans could grudgingly support McCain as "the only alternative", but I can't for the life of me figure out how anyone could get excited enough about him to actually deface their automobile.

an American car. Sadly, too many of them are badly made. Currently I drive a Honda Civic. I put gas in it about once every three weeks.

13. I'm sorry you've had that experience. |

Your comment about gas means nothing unless I know how much you drive. I get 36-40 mpg on my Focus, the second I've had. I got 200K out of the first.

30 and 35 mpg. Reliability is my number one priority, followed very closely by good gas mileage. 35 to 40 years ago when I drove a VW bug, (and gas was about 25 cents per gallon, and less during price wars) I could not understand why anyone would want to drive some car that got 10 mpg, which was pretty standard back then in American cars. Plus, they were clunky and not at all fun to drive. I have always driven small, lively cars. And always a stick.
Had the Japanese and Germans not brought cars to this country that were highly reliable and got good gas mileage, the American companies would never have bothered to build anything like a Focus. And even today, they've convinced themselves that real Americans want to drive minivans or SUVs and don't care about the cost of gas. I don't think it's unpatriotic to buy a good, economical car, even if that car was not made by Ford or GM.

The only McCain sticker I've seen on a car (I'm in a very liberal town so haven't seen almost any signs) was on a civic and I too thought, WTF??? But then on the way to work, my partner and I were noticing how many fewer SUVs etc we were seeing vs small cars and lots of prius's. So did the big SUV's that were on leases get turned in??? That would screw the car companies as they have a guaranteed price turn in which probably doesn't look good right about now.

6. Sure -- you can usually count on the typical Republican to do... |
|
whatever will save them money. That person probably doesn't give a damn about the environment; they're doing it for their pocketbook. (There are, of course, exceptions...)

I rode my bike past a set of SARAH! signs, and the owner of the house was out there, and I said "It's a bit too early for Halloween!" :D

It's a shame the prius has become a liberal stereotype. What exactly is liberal about paying half as much for gas? I suppose, in some ways, being an idiot is synonymous with being a 'conservative'. But seriously, 50mpg means gas costs $2.00 when for normal cars it costs $4.00.
