Republicans are typically pro-life. They also seem to support the "war on terrorism" and the death penalty.
How?!
Hypocrite comes to mind. I cannot wrap my head around it. Someone please explain this ass-backwards mentality to me. I've been trying to figure it out in my head, but I cannot force my brain cells to understand.

1. Pro Life is a misnomer |
|
They're pro-fetus. Once the thing is born they don't wanna see hide nor hair of it until its old enough to either go die in war or carry more little fetus's to term.

I'll file "pro-fetus" away for future reference. ;)

6. I don't think that's correct either, except as the baby is viewed as a woman punishing thing |

2. It's simple. They are not pro-life. They are pro-birth. |
|
After that you're on your own with them.

4. Think of it not as "pro-life," but as "anti-choice." |
|
THEY want to choose who is "worthy" enough to live among them.

7. Yep, anti-choice is the term that I use.. |
|
I was at an Obama rally here in Michigan, and as my friend and I were driving out of the parking lot, there was a man (why are so many of these anti-choice zealots men?) standing on the corner with a "pro-life" picket sign in hand. Since we had to stop for traffic to make our turn, I rolled down my window and very nicely asked him if he had adopted, or was planning to adopt, an unwanted baby. Well, he went ballistic - got all red in the face and started screaming at me (I don't remember exactly what he said, but it didn't make sense), and he kept yelling even as we drove off.
Legit question, right? Next time any of you run into an anti-choice nut, ask them that question and see what happens. They will invariably get p*ssed, because they can't answer it without looking like the hypocrites that they are.

5. Their stance is actually an authoritarian, punishing one |
|
They want to punish the woman who had sex. They don't give a flying fuck about the baby or the life. It's telling that "pro-life" people are often against birth control and for abstinence only sex education. They don't want women to know how to avoid pregnancy while engaging in sex and pregnancy is the rightful punishment for sexual activity. It's way fucked up.

8. Ahhhh, I think that you just answered my question... |
|
I was wondering why so many of these anti-choice zealots are men - and what you say makes sense. It's their way of keeping women "down", or controlling women by keeping them "barefoot and pregnant".
That's f*cking sick.
