I'm not enjoying this as much as I thought I would |
|
:( I've written before that my DH was laid off a couple years ago and no luck finding another position. Typical stereotypical republican supervisor blowhard. Derided everyone that had ANY differing views...even other conservatives. Just an overall rude and nasty man with the sweetest wife and kids you can imagine. Ended up bringing my DH back at 1/3 of the salary and no benefits because of outrage of clients who threatened to take their business elsewhere...and at the time, we weren't in the position to turn down the "offer". Anyway...last week, his wife filed for divorce. Today, he lost his job. The bitter irony is that they are asking my DH to step into the position--much more money and benefits. Sometimes the good guys do win out. But I honestly hope that this guy has a chance to land on his feet. His failure didn't feel as good as I thought it would.:(

Be happy you're not enjoying so much. Enjoy your humanity instead.

3. the scenarios we run in our head don't hurt anyone, when they become real |
|
we realize a real human being is hurting, even if deserved. It changes the dynamic of how you feel, if you're a compassionate human being.

4. I recently went through something similar. |
|
I resigned from a job I liked for a variety of reasons, one being a truly incompetent boss who was blaming me for things. She got laid off two weeks after I resigned. I feel sorry for her as a person, but thinking of her as my former boss, I have to say I'm a little pleased. I understand your mixed emotions. We're human, and we don't naturally delight in unhappiness.

5. Karma good, Schadenfreude bad, |
|
you shouldn't feel good about it.
That you don't feel good about it is part of why you post here rather than FR.

stay with your original position with this guy until you see a change in him for at least 3yrs. Then be careful still.

I can't take pleasure in this whatsoever. When he cut my DH...it was to give himself a raise. I think I am better than that. I hope he lands on his feet...but I also hope he learned some valuable lessons along the way.

13. It's not a matter of pleasure. Tough love isn't about pleasure. |
|
It's about changing another person into a better way of looking at life and living life. The happiness comes from the outcome. Have you ever had any kids. Do you think punishing a child gives a parent pleasure?

8. That is part of why you are a democrat and a leftie |
|
........Your humanity. You don't relish in the sorrows of others, even those that could care less about others. I am happy though that now your family will be doing better. The guy's karma has come back to bite him. He can either learn from it or continue on as he has been. It is his choice.

10. It's tough in these times to think about his wife and kids suffering |
|
in this economic environment just because he's a jerk.
Sometimes though, it does feel just as good as you thought it would. Back in the 70s, I worked in radio. The GM of the station was a bullying idiot. He would literally call female staff members into his office and berate them until they began to cry. He thought employees were falsifying their time cards, so he installed a punch clock. When hours went UP (most employees had actually been understating their time) he illegally ordered the staff to punch out at the exact time they were scheduled to. And THEN to go back to work off the clock, if necessary to finish a job. He came by his stupidity honestly, though. His father was seriously injured in an explosion. It seemed he thought he wasn't getting all the paint he should out of an aerosol paint can, so he heated it up with a blow torch!
There is always turnover in air staff in small to medium markets, but this place was a revolving door. He had an 80% turnover of ALL staff, not just the jocks. One day he came in and found the corporate VP sitting in his chair. Buh-Bye! Don't let the door hit you in the ass(hole)!
That night the Ex-KXEL employees had one hell of a party.

11. His wife and her family are *very* well off |
|
They will not have any financial problems. However, I do know her lawyer made him get his luxury car appraised last week. In fact...HE will be the one that ends up suffering the most financially. Not them.

12. "The Rules for Being Human" |
|

The Rules for Being Human by Cherie Carter-Scott
You will receive a body. You may like it or hate it, but it will be yours the entire period of this time around. You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called Life. Each day in this school you will have the opportunity to learn lessons. You may like the lessons or think them irrelevant and stupid. There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of trial and error: Experimentation. The 'failed' experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiment that ultimately 'works'. A lesson is repeated until learned. A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. You can then go on to the next lesson. Learning lessons does not end. There is no part of life that does not contain its lessons. If you are alive, there are lessons to be learned. 'There' is no better than 'here'. When your 'there' has become a 'here', you will simply obtain another 'there' that will again look better than 'here'. Others are merely mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects something you love or hate about yourself. What you make of your life is up to you. You have all the tools and resources you need. What you do with them is up to you. The choice is yours. Your answers lie inside you. The answers to life's questions lie inside you. All you need to do is look, listen, and trust. You will forget all this.
It seems the fellow ran afoul of "A lesson is repeated until learned." I've personally noticed that the repeats often get tougher and tougher ... bigger 2x4 swats alongside the head. That's life.
