Lightening the mood.....I was just reading on our local Freecycle
and this lady wants stuff to decorate a bedroom. She is very specific in color and brands...and quality.
But the CLINCHER is...she wants YOU to bring it to HER because gas prices are so high...but she MIGHT be
willing to meet you halfway if it isn't too far.
I wonder if she will have any takers?:eyes:

1. I think she's going to grow old and die
waiting for the offers to come in.

Talk about high maintenance!

2. I used to Freecycle a lot, but it got too crazy.
I liked the idea of giving up my stuff for free while also getting stuff for free.

But I almost never replied soon enough to get anything, and when I gave stuff away, it was always the same people who, I swear, were reselling it. Nothing wrong with that, but not really in the spirit, I thought.

Now I just do Craigslist...

9. I know someone who sat on freecycle
and took every single nice thing that came along--and she lives in the Portland, OR area and they give away some NICE things. She got cars, motorized wheelchairs, tools, clothes....all kinds of REALLY nice things...and resold it.
I think they caught on to her because she stopped getting things and started complaining about how "unfair" freecycle had become.

5. I don't freecycle at all anymore...
got sick and tired of all the "Wanteds" like what you describe. I use craigslist or put an ad in my local paper.

6. I can't believe how greedy/self-centered some people can be on there. I've seen posts where
they just about want to furnish their entire house in one fell swoop! When I was on Freecycle in a different city, the moderators wouldn't LET you post things like that (asking for too much crap).

8. I like the ones that make you offer before you receive
I did the Dallas one for awhile..but I gave almost an entire household away...but everytime I responded, I never got anything OR they wanted you to write a 10 page 12 pt font thesis on WHY you needed the item.
Not interested. But thanks!

7. I remember seeing one where a family wanted a pool
They gave dimensions, rather large, what type of filter, and stipulated that it couldn't be more than 2-5 yrs old. They also preferred that it already be taken down.

I doubt they ever got one.

It's amazing what people will ask others to do for them...and for free.

10. a guy was looking for a hot tub and I knew my
neighbors had one they weren't using. He asked a million questions about it, but in the end he refused it because they wouldn't deliver and set it up for him.

It was FREE! ugh.

11. Oh I just LOVE those people
Our local Freecycle is regularly invaded by people seeking Xbox 360s, HDTV's, cutting edge computer hardware, etc. Those people are bad enough but there are also the vultures that hover over the "offer" lists, trying to nab things for free so they can resell them on Craigslist or Ebay.

It's getting ugly out there.
