17. The only thing that has me halfway sane about this is the dollar rising again |
|

It will continue to do so as the globe actually deteriorates further than the U.S.
The elephant in the room is hyper-inflated European real estate... the Europe shoe is just NOW dropping...
I get paid in dollars... thank the diety I will have a job as long as oil stays about at least above $40... The small economy in the UAE and the the liquidity will save the day here. The government would have no qualms nationalizing stuff if they had to...
I probably will stay in cash for now and buy once I am SURE of a bottom.

9. Was it invested in stocks or bonds? My husband said he moved ours |

to bonds several months ago, and he expects the losses are not as great.

16. What retirement?!?!?! |
|
My husband asked me last night if I wanted to know how much we have lost. I told him I didn't want to increase the nightmares I have been having since the "grim-bailout-reaper" came to visit.

19. The company I work for changed ownership last year |
|
and our old 401K's were switched to ING. We had the choice of cashing out or moving them. I cashed out and moved mine to my savings account at Bank of America. I'm sure glad I did. It may not be earning much, but at least it is not losing. I have another 401K with ING, but it probably has a zero balance since I haven't had it long and only last statement showed a balance of a little over $1,000.

21. Co-worker of mine, nearing retirement age lost 28k in the past two quarters |
|
$28,000 dollars.
He is kicking himself for shifting some of his investments into his 401k when the markets where riding high. When I looked at his balance sheet, I couldn't help but feel sick myself.
