Troopergate and Hategate
watching the news last night - all I could think was IMPLOSION :nuke:

Troopergate: the report stated her attitude towards her ex-brother-in-law did contribute to firing of Monegan, but gave her an out by saying the other reasons were lawful and procedurally correct. So it's a fence-sitting report and now the questions are - How much did her attitude contribute, were the other reasons "dug up" in order to provide cover for the real motive, and what's next as far as the alaska legisture is concerned?

I know the mccain campaign is spinning this madly, ignoring the "contributing" element, and focusing on the "lawful/procedurally correct". However, given the reputation for vindictiveness of the bush-cheney mis-administration, doesn't this open the door even wider to expecting more of the same from Palin.

While not a mortal blow to the mccain-palin ticket - it has and will do some damage. Another wheel has fallen off the bus.

Hategate: after a week or more of firing up the crowd into a rabid foam at the mouth frenzy, mccain tries to throw water on it. this more than troopergate is mccain's implosion. according to one embedded reporter featured on Rachel Maddow last night, all that mccain had left as supporters were the foam at the mouth whackos. I'll give mccain a point for FINALLY telling them to cool it, but it's something that shouldn't have been fired up in the first place.

not only has the last wheel fallen off the bus, the bus has now imploded.

1. Monegan has a good cause of action. It'll be interesting to see who he gets as a lawyer.
The "abuse of power" finding, while not criminal, is a VERY good start on a Wrongful Termination lawsuit.
