No more Republican Retreads |
|
My LTTE to the Orlando Sentinel regarding their endorsement of three incumbent Republicans over three grassroots Democrats:
To the Editors of the Sentinel:
Why am I not really shocked that the Orlando Sentinel would pick Ric Keller - business lapdog - over Alan Grayson - real achiever - and then complain about how Grayson wants to help the little guy too much?
Alan sincerely wants to help out our struggling middle class by providing real access to health care, something that fully 25% of Floridians and 45 million Americans nationwide have no access to other than through the emergency room where it is the most expensive to all of us and the least effective for those seeking treatment.
What's so bad about that?
Alan Grayson has also been a leading fighter and trial attorney in the battle against taxpayer fraud having recovered millions for the taxpayer from fraudulent government contractors.
Alan Grayson has also been the successful CEO of a major Fortune 500 telecom company and understands markets and finance better than just about anyone in Florida outside of perhaps State of Florida CFO Alex Sink.
These two resume items alone make Alan uniquely qualified as our next Congressman from the Eighth District to seriously investigate the massive corruption on Wall Street that taxpayers have been asked to fix to the tune of 850 BILLION dollars.
If we had more people like Alan in Congress we certainly COULD afford some of his proposals because we'd be spending far less money on rescuing corrupt fat cats from their own greed and incompetence.
In no way does Ric Keller even come close to Alan's qualifications.
In fact Ric's record of relative obscurity in Congress shows him to be a total disappointment and underachiever. His most notable achievement in life is apparently the "cheeseburger protection act".
But in business as usual the paper picked Mr. Keller who promised not to even run a fifth time and who has now broken that promise over Mr. Grayson who offers Florida and America some REAL change in Congress that will complement Barack Obama's change in the White House.
Indeed it is interesting how the paper so rarely picks a Democrat over a Republican.
Ms. Armitage and Mr. Russell likewise were given the short shrift by the paper with no real explanations of why the editors felt they were not qualified - Don't we at least deserve some specifics?
Given Congresswoman Brown-Waite's bizarre comments regarding the citizenship of Puerto Ricans, picking her over Mr. Russell makes no sense whatsoever.
Given how poorly the Republicans in Congress have performed since 1994, why NOT give Grayson, Russell and Armitage a chance?
They certainly can't do worse than Keller, Mica and Jenny Brown-Waite.
It's time for a fresh start and we can't do that with same old Republican retreads.
