15. He crafted the Bush message and he's bitching about the political tone.
He's such a jackass. I'm sure he never implied anything nefarious about John Kerry or anything.

10. She handled that in an elegant, eloquent and respectful way.
She defended her position without interrupting him and by clearly making her point.

Imagine if that same bit was done on Billo's show and the tables were turned.

Well done, Rachael.

27. Agreed. Those are a few of the reasons why I like her.
It's amazing how even when that ass Frum tried to instigate rudeness from Rachel she did not take the bait. I really think his ulterior motive to coming on the show was to fluster her. He failed of course.

14. Beyond great ! She is a national treasure
He insinuated that her light hearted approach and sometimes making fun of the troubles we are experiencing is an equivalent to what happens on the stump and with the crowds with McPalin.

She simply twisted him, spun him like a top and then put her foot out and made him crash.
She was right, and he was frustrated about his party, his party's chances, and he was projecting blame like crazy out of his pain.

She had NONE of it.
It was a moment of unexpected Television, a moment of confrontation how it should be done, and a moment of pride in both of them for sticking to their points without rancor and personal insults.
He just was coming from the wrong place, and had to be put into the right one.

So Rachel took care of it with unconscious competence.

GO RACHEL

39. The tension could be cut with a knife.
I couldn't believe it when he implied that her show was a contribution to the general lowering of the political dialog's intelligence and relevance. She called him on it... and patiently and methodically yanked him around and dialectically punched him squarely in the face.
He wasn't going to admit it, of course. And in the end, with a smile, she whimsically dismissed his attempt to condescendingly put her in "her place" as a "lighthearted but essentially content light fluff show".
If you want to talk about sexism, forget about the Democratic primary and anything that was said or done to Hillary... this was an attempt to dismiss Rachel on sheer instinct-level, near unconscious, connotations associated with "backhanded" dismissals disguised as a mere attempt at criticism. There was a sort of tone and body language transmission of attempted dismissal of Rachel... done in such a surreally comfortable fashion on the part of Frum that I got the impression that he genuinely, unconsciously, believed the "little lady" would defer to his dismissal of her to go to the "little kids' table", implying that she shouldn't be taken more seriously than an E! reporter...
It was an impressive display of restraint for her to behave so cordially in response. So professionally. She looked like she wanted to jump down his throat and stomp his tonsils down into his intestines, and destroy everything in between... and rightly so. Instead, she methodically and professionally sparred with him. And, in the end, won.

34. He made me think of the poem by Calvin Trillin about Richard Perle.
I think it might apply to Frum as well...

Richard Perle: Whose Fault Is He?
by Calvin Trillin

Consider kids who bullied Richard Perle--
Those kids who said Perle threw just like a girl,
Those kids who poked poor Perle to show how soft
A mamma's boy could be, those kids who oft-
Times pushed poor Richard down and could be heard
Addressing him as Sissy, Wimp or Nerd.
Those kids have got a lot to answer for,
'Cause Richard Perle now wants to start a war.
The message his demeanor gets across:
He'll show those playground bullies who's the boss.
He still looks soft, but when he writes or talks
There is no tougher dude among the hawks.
And he's got planes and ships and tanks and guns--
All manned, of course, by other people's sons.

21. Frum really did seem to try an ambush on Maddow...didn't work very welll...
His charge that if someone isn't completely serious in tone at all times means that they are destroying the national discourse just doesn't hold water. Maddow's attack on the equivalency charge really went to the heart of the matter. Frum seems to think that everyone should just be their own personal perfect person in dialogue and then everything will be ducky. Hmm...sorta sounds like Kerry's strategy to me. No thanks...

She patiently let's them finish their full thought, and then politely make them see how ignorant said thought is.

Frum didn't like it. The look on his face at the end of the debate clearly said, "This is my last visit to this show"

This mother fucker couldn't understand why on earth MSNBC gave her a show. Now, he understands. And I'm pretty sure she is not gonna sacrifice her ratings because some sour puss wants her to be "more serious". The fact that she is approaching these issues at ALL make her more serious than most!

42. Interesting that a former Bush speechwriter is suddenly concerned with political tone.
His remarks were beyond ironic as Frum is the fool who coined the "axis of evil" phrase.

At the link below, Frum says Obama has "never done anything" has "no record of accomplishment" is running "only on his words."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0h-flOkdAA

I suggest Frum's sudden concern about "tone" is more about the latest poll numbers than it is about any new found integrity on his part?
