2. If Harper goes that would be a good omen, if he stays then vote fraud has
...crossed the border

5. No. Progressive parties split votes too many ways to defeat conservatives. nt

13. Well, I guess that why I'll never understand parliamentary party coalitions
...and what it means to voters

17. It's REALLY screwy. Three liberal parties are split so the Tories will get leadership again -
as they have the plurality even though nearly 65% of Canadians are voting for the other parties.

7. You and me both.
It really sucks that the Conservatives are likely to be re-elected, even though nearly 70% of the country votes to the left of them.

6. Heard via the grapevine
Harper is worried. Part of his "get out the vote" strategy was to call W to grant a day pass for Conrad Black so he could fly up from his safe house in Florida. They couldn't get an absentee ballot to him in time.;-)

10. CBC website should have results. Polls don't close until 7pm on the west coast.

12. CBC is usually pretty good...
CBC - Canada Votes

I also tend to like the Toronto Star: The Star - Federal Election

I suspect there will be some good discussion in DU's Canada forum, tonight, too.

14. Alas, I cannot help voting Harper out
Unfortunately, I live in a "safe Conservative" riding.

But I'm still voting NDP, although I was sorely tempted to vote Green. I've alway admired Elizabeth May and she kicked ass in the debate.

But I want the Greens and NDP to make a huge showing statistically to make the case for proportional voting.

15. Is there a real chance? What are the polls saying?
Just curious. I haven't been following this at all. Would LOVE to see him go.

16. Unfortunately, it looks like Harper will win again...
albeit with another minority government. Bah. He only has about 30% support accross the country, but that's more than any of the others.

I really wish that the Liberals and the NDP would unite the way that the Reform Party and the Conservatives did. Or that the Bloc would disappear or something.

19. 17% undecided yesterday so there is a chance Harper could loose.
At the very least he will not get a majority thank gosh. And that is the most important thing.

20. 17% - crazy, eh? I hope it's people deciding between the NDP and the Liberals.
I bet most of the undecided-as-of-yesterday voters don't end up voting at all.

21. The vote was split between the three parties on the left. Conservatives almost got
a majority. Phew - that was close.
