2 of My Neighbors have taken down their McCain/Palin signs
I have been living in a sea of M/P signs when my neighbors across the street put up their Obama sign, I then went and got mine. Then another neighbor diagonally from us put up their Obama yard sign. Last night, as I drove down the road I noticed that 2 of my other neighbors had taken down their M/P signs. Nothing has replaced them as of yet.

Hopefully, they have figured it out. Both of them had Bush signs in 2000 and 2004. :hi:

2. It seems the Obama signs have come in up here!
:hi:

My husband was just commenting on the amount of Obama signs around last night. It's a beautiful sight. Have you driven through the village of Rockport? Someone has a huge banner hanging from their porch!

5. I don't get out that way much, but I'll make it a point to this week.
Hey, we've got to hook up again! Any day is fine, since I'm only working nights. :hi:

8. Yes, we do!
Can you believe we are moving again?! I'll have to fill you in... Right in Rockport, so not far.

Off to preschool with the little boys now!

4. I was amazed by the number of McCain/Palin signs I saw this weeked out in Oxford County.
Usually in front of the trailers w/additions (you know the ones) or farms that are falling down.

Don't these people get that McCain and Palin won't help them? And my county isn't even religious. I just don't get it.

18. My wife and I took a ride out to Bingham to visit a friend yesterday.
We took a log scenic ride to take in some fall color and ended up driving through western Penobscot, Piscataquis, and some of Somerset County. I counted yard signs on the way. Unfortunately, the tally was 67 McPalin and five Obama/Biden. There were too many Susan Collins signs to count but about 15 for Tom Allen. Like you said, the McPalin signs were in the yards of the poorest of the poor - trailers with tar paper additions and five junk cars in the front yard and/or a barn that is collapsing on what's left of the house. I thought it a fitting metaphor for the current state of the republican party.

Poor people supporting a political party that wouldn't cross the street to spit on them didn't make sense to me until we passed two churches (one in Guilford - a large Baptist church and the other in Garland - a big brand new something or other Assembly of God church) that appeared to be having "yard sales" in the parking lots. We saw a half dozen people at each walking away with McPalin signs.

I thought about reporting their activities but since they were handing out signs outside the churches at some kind of event, I figured they were working within the letter of the law if not the actual intent.

On the plus side, as of this morning, there are three Obama/Biden signs on my road.

23. Sometimes, I think we live in Dumbfuckistan.
I thought the people in Maine knew better, but then, if you listen to the radio in that area, it's rife with right-wing shock jock garbage.

6. I routinely take back roads to work in SE PA
and there are areas where M/P signs are thick -- yet yesterday I noticed more O/B signs and even one house that had REPLACED their M/P sign with an O/B one! Made me feel GREAT and set the tone for the rest of my day. :D

13. The other thing I should add...
...is that I know from volunteering at my local Obama campaign field office Obama yard signs have been super-scarce because of the demand for them. I can believe that part of the reason I don't see more in my area is that they just aren't available.

11. The odd thing here in my town ...
... is that there are NO presidential yard signs at all (that I've seen). However, there are plenty of yard signs for state reps who are up for election this year.

Judging from previous election vote counts, I would say that my town has quite a few Republicans (and even more Dems), but I can't account for no yard signs.

old dogs don't cotton to new tricks and all that, you know

Add: Looking out my window I see two Obama/Biden signs, one right in front of our house, of course and one over by my neighbors.

14. My three immediate neighbors had Bush/Cheney signs
in 2004. None of them have signs up this year. Then again, I just got my Obama/Biden sign and plan to put it up tonight; we'll see if they get signs after seeing mine. :)

17. i haven't seen any obama signs around here in wny
lots of mccain/palin ones up. i did have someone at a gas station ask me where i got my obama sticker though. i am glad that this is a dem state, but it is disheartening to see so many mccain signs around. i live in between rochester and buffalo ny. i have thought of maybe writing an email about how i am feeling about what mccain would do to the health insurance. i have been trying to figure out how i would want to put it. whatever people's views on things like gay marriage and abortion and such.... we all need to be able to take our kids to the doctor. and i have been without insurance. i have sat and felt that pit in my stomach as i tried to decide if my daughter was really sick or if it was just something that wasn't much. the thought of being without health insurance is something that bothers me so much. i mean, we pay a lot now as it is and have wondered if we could afford it if it goes up anymore. but the idea of being thrown out into the individual search for insurance considering how expensive THAT is should frighten anyone. i fear that they don't think they have to worry about that and they should.

19. I had three around here
one disappeared with the senate sign still in place. the funny thing about that one is it was on the n/e corner, the other three corners sprouted Obama signs.
the other two M/P signs are on the city's right of way.(strip between the sidewalk and street) so a few of us will call the city and have them removed as ours are all on the house side of the sidewalk. a week before the election.

20. There's a big vacant field about 4 blocks from my house,
that overnight sprouted several M/P & other repub signs. Two days later all the signs were gone. Just like a repub, huh? Plant your sign anywhere you want without asking. :eyes:

Down the block from me one house has a gigantic O/B sign. It's huge! Their backyard backs to the street with a privacy fence & the sign is attached to top of the fence.

I'm on a busy street & proudly display my O/B sign. No other neighbors in my immediate area have yard signs.

21. two thoughts: 1) Hope they weren't stolen.
That's always wrong, even when McCain/Palin homes are victimized.

2) In my very-red GA neighborhood, a very few homes put up McCain signs immediately after the convention. No more have joined them since.

22. Heh, there's some assholes down the road with SARAH! signs, and get this
There's a note next to one of them reminding people that it's illegal to steal signs from yards. Nobody has actually stolen them, but that isn't stopping these clowns from playing the preemptive victims :eyes:
