The best thing about Belgium, and growing yourself
is, you know what you smoke...

In belgium, it is "tolerated" to have 5 grams of cannabis for personal use. BUT it is also tolerated to have one plant for yourself.

So after reading up, I ordered some seeds online, and with a lot of care (and some funny mistakes) I now have 8 buds of one female plant drying in an outhouse. They need one more week of drying, and then a couple months of curing to reach full taste, but I just lit one up and ... mmm-mmmm just what the doctor ordered.

Beats driving hours on end to the Netherlands to buy stuff that is all too often tampered with.
And the knowledge you have grown it yourself...makes it even better.

Just sayin'
If you have any questions, ask them before I have left the building ;-)

:smoke:

4. Thanks Uncle Joe! Funny you mention going green
because that is incidentally what this is a part of - we started a vegetable garden and I had some space in the greenhouse.

All through the summer, I have been proud of my tomatoes, salad, herbs, and now this.
I'm an engineer, but I can't begin to say how much fun it has been to care for all the vegetables.
Nature is a miracle and it's a blast to watch.
Can't wait for next year though, my beans didn't work out and my wife loves those :-(

2. I'm drooling here.
Really - hand me a rag to wipe up the drool. I look like McCain's gonna look tomorrow night.

Question: how long does it take to go from seed to that lovely photo?

5. I somehow doubt you look like McCain :-)
but I get your point.

The picture is of the strain I chose, but my buds aren't quite as big - I topped the plant, so you get more but smaller buds. Otherwise it grew through my greenhouse roof

As to how long it took: I planted (late) in June, flowering started beginning of august and they are ready now, so close to 3 months.

But that is if you grow outdoor and let it be, like I did. It can be done in 7 weeks too.

3. I am SO jealous of you.
If I want some of that, I have to break the law and put myself at risk of possible imprisonment.

Plus, I dont have "a guy" anymore, so I'm really on my own.

why you, lucky bastard, plus you get easier access to Belgium Trappist Ales, grrrrrr.

I dont suppose you could Fedex, er, well nevermind.

7. Yeah alcohol being legal and this not...
I am not saying we should all intoxicate ourselves all day long - neither should we be drunk all the time.

I never wanted to look around for "that guy" either, I like this much better. Okay, you need patience, and some time.

Trappist I could Fedex you, or is that not what you were asking?

11. believe it or not, we now can get some pretty good trappist ales here in Georgia
I'm with you, I dont want to be intoxicated all the time, but I dont like being told what I can do and when I can do it. I do most of my grocery shopping on Sundays and in my neck of the woods, the state does not allow beer or alcohol sales on Sunday. Not that I really wanted to buy some, but when I pass the beer cooler and the lights are turned off, it pisses me off.

I'm not a fan of the Nanny State. I dont believe that the State knows what's best for me and therefore will effectively control my actions and protect me from myself.

I am jealous of your freedom over there. Plus I really like Brugge when I visited a few years ago. I think I could stand to live in Belgium or Holland for that matter.

...and no, I was joking about fedexing something entirely different.

14. Word. No Nanny State, and esp. not a hypocrite one at that.
I don't know if we have that much more freedom here, really. We are ruled (and gouged) by big corps just as well. We do have a pretty librul media, but it's too concentrated too.

Next time you visit Brugge, do tell! I am at 5 mins of the center.

Well...seeds can be freely shipped here...not so the finished material. And especially towards the US, even the seeds sites are rather keen on telling you "at your own risk".

9. Over here, if you don't grow it yourself, our wise government sets it up
so that you're donating to criminal enterprises. When I was smoking, I hated knowing my money was often going to complete scumbags. All because pleasure is bad.

15. You would think that we would eventually catch on, but no, we are determined
to continue destroying ourselves.

Prohibition does not work. Never has, never will.

21. It takes weeks, not months, for cannabis to cure.
Edited on Wed Oct-15-08 07:46 PM by Fly by night
Having grown cannabis since 1970, I know of what I speak.

Ten days to two weeks will do for your buds all they need to work their tasty, trippy wonders. Just cure them in a dark space with good air circulation.

Welcome to the world of cannabis tenders. Nothing smells better than a flower of the Goddess in full crystal, before it is harvested. The best smelling smokable bud has 1/10th the fragrance of a living flower.

I would also start your plants earlier next time so that the plants have at least three months before beginning to flower. With a greenhouse, that should be easy. Here in the South, we can plant in mid to late March without much difficulty.

If you ever have any questions, just let me know. In the meantime, I would recommend Sweet Tooth #3, Train Wreck and California Orange. Another of my favorites -- Cotton Candy X Hawaiian -- is hard to find these days.
