Not all of us are GOP zombies. White males outside of the rural areas of the south and midwest, to my knowledge, only marginally prefer the GOP. It is the white males in small towns who subscribe to xenophobic and bigoted idealogies that give the GOP their power among that demographic. White males are also a backbone of support among a political demographic known as 'liberals', who make up 19% of the electorate.

Obama did great with the white males in Wisconsin, Maine and various other states during the primaries.

If you're going to blame anyone, blame the bigots and xenophobes. They've f-ed up the country. The fact that white men in certain areas happen to share those attitudes is just bad luck.

It was in some magazine. It is the only field in which women are actually paid a little more, because of recent gains, than men. Is there any field that says "white male" like this field? It might reflect the fact that women are taking more manager positions. It's a sure sign of something we all know: white males have been in decline for the past few decades.

That means they have to follow EEOC hiring practices. If they don't have a demonstrable percentage of minority and women employees, they don't get government contracts. Being married to an electrical engineer for 26 years who's been in the field for 22, I can say that women engineers have been highly sought for a very long time and for many years it was for this reason alone. At least that "myth" has been out there a very long time.
