Campbell Brown of CNN - Confronting the new bigotry
Quote:
"Of course he's not an Arab. Of course he's not a Muslim, but, honestly, it shouldn't matter."

I think it's a great video piece, and damn straight on.

Obama is not Arab, he's not Muslim, but really, why does it matter? And why is it okay to slur all Arab-Americans and those who peacefully practice the Muslim tradition?

Bigotry, hatred, demonization, ...
Wrong in ALL their forms.

2. It is good to know that there are commentators out there that speak up on this...
besides Keith Olbermann and Jon Stewart.

I hope it does not cost her her job.

3. He isn't Arab he is a "decent family man"
McCain still needs to answer for that remark IMO.

5. You are doing the same guilt by association thing
that has been so despicable against Obama.

Pretty simple idea.

19. Nope. Nothing she has done or said deserves your kind of
judgment, but it is fine if you don't like her. That kind of attitude though is the same kind of attitude that keeps bringing up all the crap in Obama's past, like Ayers. People make mistakes. Some know how to move on from them, some don't.

What about James Carville?

8. So you'll then ignore James Carville...
...since he's married to Mary Matalin?

NONSENSE to both. The same kind of guilt by association McCain's pulling.

9. Campbell Brown has changed.
Her behavior in the past certainly seemed strong GOP-leaning, especially given her husband's duties. But this election cycle, she's been given a lot more room to express her opinion, and she's much more Dem-friendly. She's not afraid to call Republicans on their BS like nearly every other talking head.

She lost me there with no hope for a return.

17. Remember...Senor is a FORMER official.
It seems to me that most former "officials" involved with either the White House or the Pentagon have challenged and exposed the corruption and ignorance. Maybe, Dan really hates the war, from the start to the way it is now, and really hates Bush. Just a thought.
I believe Campbell Brown is really coming into her own.

21. Hey, I'm with devilgrrl on the "kabuki theatre" comment. That really pissed me off, too.
But, I have to say that Campbell has turned toward the light in the last month or two. I have been astonished that she has made comments that were non-prejudicial and even-handed and has even lambasted McCain and Palin with a few real zingers. She is definitely giving the appearance of neutrality and thoughtfulness, which is a very positive change.

On the other hand, it's obvious that Campbell doesn't grasp the fact that we Americans always need some "OTHER" to label, hate and discriminate against. It's the Merkan way. Right now it's the Arabs' turn to be the enemy.
