WTF? Border Patrol Video Mocks Protesters
Edited on Tue Oct-14-08 03:23 PM by Truth2Tell
On September 20, 2008, several hundred citizens held a demonstration in Port Angeles Washington to protest recent activity by the US Border Patrol on Washington's Olympic Peninsula. The protester's concerns included a recent spate of unconstitutional road checkpoints many miles from the border, arbitrary detentions and deportations, and several warrant-less home invasions.

At the demonstration, several protesters, including former Democratic Congressional candidate Paul Richmond observed at least one uniformed Border Patrol employee videotaping the event. This videotaping was done not only while the rally was near federal buildings, but throughout the time the demonstrators marched through public streets.

The videotaping was confirmed by a Border Patrol Agent of the last name Dyer at a meeting of the Port Angeles Business Association on October 7. On October 9, Richmond, an attorney, filed a Freedom of Information Act Request, asking for copies of the video and purposes for which it was being used.

Richmond has thus far received no response. However, today a participant in the protest discovered the video below on YouTube. Participants in the march confirm that the clips in the video appear to be from the footage taken by the uniformed Border Patrol agent. Note the classy homophobia.

I mean really, WTF?

This video just came to the attention of activists in Washington today. Please help spread the word about this crap.

4. He also posted it at a "porn" site.
Since porn is in the eye of the beholder, I'll leave it in quotation marks.

I also won't post the link here since I'm not sure the site is okay per DU rules and sensibilities.

Just google 11helf.

9. So was I.
I didn't click around the site much so there may be some there. I really wasn't in a mood to go look, though.

6. The part of that video with the weird blonde guy dancing
was in an earlier video from portland. I remember seeing it on Youtube awhile back. Notice the comment on the video form a guy who says there are no buildings that tall in port angeles or any tracks down the road. Also, there is the suggestion the Border patrol guy made this film. Does seem odd to cobble old footage from another town's protest as well as using Benny hill music to mock citizens.

Anyone else recognize the portland footage in this film?

7. I just went and re-read the email I got on this
it says some of the footage is from the Port Angeles protest. Apparently not all of it is.

I assume the guy who made this edited in other goofy protest footage just to make the Port Angeles protesters look even worse.

All very strange.

11. Ah I stand corrected not portland but germany?
So to mock west coast protesters a border patrol guy fakes footage. That's pretty low. Hope the candidate/lawyer Richmond sues the government for this improper use of the the footage.
