A great example of ignorance without shame...
I have been having a *somewhat* friendly debate with a cousin of mine over the internet on our blogs. I won't stoop to insult her intelligence on here because she is family. I'll let you draw your own conclusions...

She reposted some crap from that guy Bill Balsamico. Basically he and this other guy he refers to as "Roy from Chicago" both engage in a huge smackdown on Chicago. Well, it pissed me off because I love Chicago. Here's an example of what she posted..

CHANGE ? (just the century)

As America enters the final weeks of the 2008 Presidential Election a community organization based in CHICAGO named ACORN (with ties to Barack Obama) has come under fire for "POSSIBLE" voter fraud (I for one was shocked). Acorns explanation is possible mistakes by employees and can't help that. Do they think Americans are that stupid? Frankly I believe the Government is that stupid to keep funding these organizations with OUR TAX DOLLARS. When you step back and look at the series of events unfolding it is easy to see that AMERICAN TAX DOLLARS (that lately there are plenty of) have been funding the fix of the "FIX" of the Presidential election.---PLAIN AND SIMPLE---Could it be that the COMMUNITY ORGANIZER has elevated to ORGANIZED CRIME ??? Is Barack Obama Chicago's 21st Century version of Chicago's 20th Century Al Capone??

And now a message from my friend Roy in Chicago...

You want CHANGE?
CHANGE Chicago style...
BODY COUNT
In the last six months 292 killed (murdered) in Chicago,
221 killed in Iraq .
WHO'S IN CHARGE IN ILLINOIS ?
Gov. Rod Blogojevich
House leader Mike Madigan
Atty. Gen. Lisa Madigan (daughter of Mike)
Mayor Richard M. Daley (son of former Mayor Richard J. Daley)
&
SENATORS
BARACK OBAMA
&
DICK DURBIN
...the leadership in Illinois .....all Democrats.
Chicago is a combat zone. Of course they're all blaming each other.
Can't blame Republicans, there aren't any!
State pension fund $44 Billion in debt, worst in country.
Cook County ( Chicago ) sales tax 10.25% highest in country.
(Look'em up if you want). Chicago school system one of the worst in country
This is the political culture that Obama comes from in Illinois.
He's gonna 'fix' Washington politics?
"BULL SHIT"

Needless to say, I responded with facts about Chicago and the facts about Phoenix and Wasilla. Chicago a hell hole war zone? I think not. She didn't want to hear it and want to know her explanation?

"I don't like Obama and I never will. I do agree with everything bad I hear about him. Not because I am "brainwashed", but because it is America and that is my opinion. Right or wrong? Only time will tell, I guess......"

So, in other words....I don't want to hear your facts, I'm going to believe everything I hear that is negative simply because I want to. Not because it's right or wrong. This woman is a prime example of the typical republican in this country. They don't need a reason and they don't need to be troubled with facts. ugh. How am I related to her?

Got any "nice" comment response ideas that would really make this woman think?

3. The good news is that I now know for a fact that there are some politicians
and bureaucrats in Illinois that are trying very hard to make a difference.

The bad news is that, while distorted to make a political point, this is not entirely wrong. My experience living in Chicago is commonly referred to around here as "the year in hell". Because I used to be a consultant, I've been fortunate enough to have lived in every region of the US and Chicago was, by far, the most blatantly corrupt, mismanaged, and incestuous disaster I've encountered.

Illinois Democratic Party leaders are a breed unto themselves. They don't seem to have any of the values or beliefs that are commonly associated with the party and their influence is seen from Chicago to Springfield, from the Governors office to beat cops, they have their hands out and couldn't care less what you do as long as your payments are on time.

Randy Cunningham was subtle compared to these guys.

When Obama came on the national scene I was, and still am (he isn't President yet), very concerned that this is the system that he thrived in. Racism is still worse there than in the south, something that Martin Luther King found when was there 40 years ago. Prices and taxes are very high, wages are low, and laws are frequently unenforced, provided the offender has paid off the right people. No place is perfect, but Chicago has a lot more room for improvement than most other places.

I'm glad you like it, but I'm guessing you have not yet come up against the PTB, or you are from the right family.

Sorry.
