Do they realize MOST of America had NO CLUE who 'Joe the |

Asshole' even is? Even my bf, who is VERY WELL INFORMED(and reads DU everyday, but isn't quite as addicted as I), had not seen the video of Joe. I think we DUers are lucky. We see everything WELL before the rest of America.(if they ever see at all). Sometimes, I think we forget that, because we are so enveloped in this election. I am listening to Howard Stern now, and one of the guys just said "I don't give a FUCK about Joe the Plumber, I care about MY FAMILY!" I think most Americans are feeling that way.

In hard times, people want to hear what a politician will do for THEM, not about someone else. Obama told them; McCain didn't. And didn't you think it odd that McCain was railing against "redistribution of wealth"? After all, isn't that what's happening with this economic bailout? Oh, I forgot. It is ok for the government to help the rich. :sarcasm:

he didn't set up the back story well enough and was not understood. McLoser blew it with this tactic. It was confusing and looked like McShame was out of it. He made no sense to the average person on this talking point.

4. NPR reported that after the debate ... |

Joe The Plumber™ said that the tax plan Obama proposed during the debate would not raise his taxes. But, he said, that doesn't mean he wouldn't change the threshold rate later.
Douchebag - you're 15 seconds of fame are almost over.

5. Wait, people knew about this before the debate? |

I consider myself ridiculously on top of things politically and I had not heard anything about this guy prior to waking up this morning and seeing all the posts about him (I didn't watch the debate).

6. I think the lesson behind Joe the plumber was AFTER the debate. |
|
Joe, still didn't get it.
You see, he's the poster boy for "I don't give a FUCK about _____ , I just care about MY FAMILY!"
He didn't get that he would've been better off during those "years of hard work" and as Obama stated, AND Joe agreed, LUCK... if he'd been under Obama's plan.
He didn't give a damn, that the bottom line is, he's better off than 90% of American Families and that his customer base will slowly trickle down, as will his income, because people will NOT be able to PAY him!!!..
IMO, it will be THEN, that Joe will appreciate Obama's plan for those making under 250 Grand, because he will be one of them. YOU DON'T WIPE OUT YOUR CUSTOMER'S INCOME, MORON!!!!
In the future, Joe will give a shit about this or he may still only give a shit about himself, but with a healthy dose of "WTF just happened!?!"
Joe...shmo!
-- Yes, I agree most American care about their own family... but I can't believe they do it at the expense of all others. If they don't care who they walk over (especially those in need), then they have nothing up on Joe shmo; they are one and the same.
I think most American's understand they need to lift other's up in order to make this world a better place to live, ALL AROUND; I just don't know how many of them will actually act upon it! What a sad selfish society if that's the bottom line.
I think we can be better than that.

10. I am very cynical I know. But, sadly, I do think MOST Americans feel that way. |
|
Even, democrats. Most of us, in the USA, live off the back of others. Even those of us, that are "poor". If we have a computer, we are WAY better off then almost half of the world, that lives on under $2 a day.

7. I had no idea who McCain was talking about |

Then I figured out that this guy was a plumber who must have come into some money (perhaps inheritance) and wants to buy the company he works for and thinks he will clear over $250,000 a year minus expenses and capital reinvestment. I don't know if his company is union or not-- perhaps he thinks he will continue to receive the same union benefits his employees will....and then some, I don't know. I find it unbelievable, especially with the prices of metals (metal pipe--copper, etc.) escalating, the decrease in new construction and capital projects due to the credit crunch and the economy, and the competition of interstate outfits that send tramps from state to state outbidding local companies that he will. If his company does not do construction or industrial work, I don't believe it brings in that much cash. I could be wrong but I doubt it.
My feeling is that this is an appeal from McCain to blue collar union workers. None of them will buy it. He could quite possibly be a plant.

8. People need to start talking about how Joe is talking about a 3% increase over $250K. |
|
The way it's being framed is that he is paying a HUGE amount more which is NOT the truth! :grr:
