Ever have one of those experiences where a little thought keeps poking you in the back of your brain demanding you pay attention to some minuscule detail that indicates something larger? I did. This whole "joe the plumber" was one of them. I had my "ah ha!" moment a few minutes ago.
Meet
Nixon's Plumbers and their relationship to
CREEPThe White House Plumbers or simply the Plumbers is the popular name given to the covert White House Special Investigations Unit established July 24, 1971 during the presidency of Richard Nixon. Its job was to stop the leaking (hence "plumbers") of classified information to the news media. Its members branched into more nefarious projects working for the Committee to Re-elect the President (CRP, or CREEP), including the Watergate break-ins and the ensuing Watergate scandal.
The Committee to Re-elect the President, often abbreviated to CRP or CREEP (an acronym used derisively by critics of the Nixon administration), was a Nixon White House fundraising organization. This organization was found to have employed money laundering and slush funds, and was involved in the Watergate Scandal.
These people need to learn a new trade. Breaking rocks comes to mind.
