What is with all the Congressional GOP Political Suicide attempts lately?
Edited on Thu Oct-23-08 04:05 PM by Double_Talk_Express
First we have Michele Bachmann (R-MN) and her McCarthyism....then Robin Hayes (R-NC) saying that "Liberals hating real Americans", and then flat out LYING about saying it! Now Randy Kuhl (R-NY) says that the Democratic majority in Congress wants to make Americans "hurt" and "suffer" for "political gain". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=weVoGdlCbKU

Will the GOP force congressional candidates to wear tape over their mouths between now and Nov 4th or are all their feet firmly lodged in there already?

1. Makes me wonder whether they can't deal with being in the minority
Especially with a DEMOCRATIC president ... They'd rather
slink back to their districts and hide their heads in the
sand and STILL believe that this is a "center-right
country" (B.S.!).

3. They're just getting bolder, more upfront - tired of hiding behind rhetoric
They want to be loved for their true ideals, not the piffle they've been forced to present to the public for the last decade.

5. I'll tentatively disagree
I agree with Greenwald--I think they're used to getting away with this kind of talk. The ideas aren't new; having the media and their constituents call them out on it is new.

6. Well, that's true as well, but you didn't see them try it on Meet The Press before
They're definitely getting more and more strident in national politics. Sure, we've seen it for a while, but we watch for it... the average TV viewer doesn't see the hatred so easily because of all the propaganda, but I see a rise in RW frankness lately that's stunning in its unabashed, unwashed nakedness. I think, now that the "soft" republicans are gone from the party, the hard core base is spreading their wings. In short, I think both positions (we made) are true.

4. Panic mode
It's easy to be a candidate when the media and fearmongering do all the work for you. When you actually have to campaign on issue you have no clue about, things fall apart and the stupid comes out.

8. I think they all started to believe their own propaganda.
They forgot that they had to lie, cheat and steal to get where they are. They forgot that most of the country does not, will not, never did think like them.

In short, they are eeeee-diots.
