of DUer, K. Gardner's post, "Miss Jean Louise, Stand Up, Your Father's Passin'." Please, take a few moments to click on this DU link and read this wonderful post. It's worth your time, even if you read it the first time. My goal is still to set it to music and make a video, K. Gardner. :) http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=7226200&mesg_id=7226200

5. I live about 2 hours from Monroeville, Alabama. |
|
It's the actual setting for "To Kill A Mockingbird" and the home of the author, Harper Lee.
I saw the movie when it was first released on the big screen. Then I read the book. Both brought tears. And so did K. Gardner's post.
So I think that on November 5, Miz t. and I will make a pilgrimage to Monroeville. Have lunch there. Look around the town. And pay some homage. It just seems like a good thing to do.
God bless Harper Lee. She may have done more to open some white eyes, and change some white minds, than all the black activists before and since.

thanks to Barack Obama for holding onto the torch for all of us.

MAny thanks for re-posting this. So beautiful.
What amazes me the most about this incredible campaign season is how inspiring Obama has been. This post by K Gardner is truly inspired as is what you plan to do with it.
I'm really looking forward to what else might be inspired, imagine the possibilities once he's President!
