Apple is publicly opposing Proposition 8 and making a donation of $100,000 to the No on 8 campaign. Apple was among the first California companies to offer equal rights and benefits to our employees’ same-sex partners, and we strongly believe that a person’s fundamental rights — including the right to marry — should not be affected by their sexual orientation. Apple views this as a civil rights issue, rather than just a political issue, and is therefore speaking out publicly against Proposition 8.

how much support they do have. Those fundies can be ferocious in these cases and do end up swaying companies in their twisted direction. I hope others will let Apple know they have support in doing the right thing.

after I read that Microsoft donated towards the RNC convention, my choices were significantly narrowed in a laptop then when I saw this story earlier, I just took the plunge. I believe in the power of consumerism and now I can wander, correspond, and learn!:)

And helped set up the entire computer/IT system for the DNC in Denver.
And apparently gave away Zunes to the DNCC.

Which I found somewhat humorous since Democrats were equally as responsible as Congressional Repukes in the anti-trust investigations and hearings of Microsoft in the 1990s. It made me laugh out loud while was watching the DNC on TV with all the delegates wearing "Microsoft" lanyards.

That said, I give Apple much credit for making their stance known and donating to the No On 8 cause.

I was under the impression that apart from the expert IT assistance for both conventions, Microsoft made a cash donation to the RNC. If I'm wrong, I stand corrected. (But either way I'lll keep the new computer!).:)

This was announced and APPLAUDED in the church I attended this past Sunday. Hubby and I felt like a fish out of water. Very uncomfortable moment for us.

My wholehearted thanks for your public opposition to Proposition 8. As a California resident and 20+ year Mac user I am doubly pleased that you are taking this stand -- and that you are donating money to the cause!
