How long in jail should Ashley Todd get?
A couple of months? A couple of years?

Has Fox news said sorry, for blasting this story out yesterday?

1. Whatever a 6'4" black man would have gotten for carving a 'B' into a white woman's face...
in Pittsburgh, PA.

Edited on Fri Oct-24-08 06:19 PM by Wiley50
how it hurts black men to make up such stories.

I know I'm being unkind but what she did hurts all black people

Perhaps she could be sentenced to join a group therapy inside a men's prison

34. The correct answer is: whatever a black woman filing a false report
accusing a white man would get. And her mental illness should receive exactly as much consideration as a black felon's mental illness would receive in Pittsburgh, PA.

42. I've yet to see people ending up in jail for a serious period of
time for false allegations, be they black or white. If you have any evidence to suggest otherwise, do provide a link. Of the cases I know, these false accusers skate off into the sunset, so to speak, without going to jail for it.
Some might get a slap on the wrist, but that's about it.

61. Oh shut up. The patterns of discrimination are well-established.
Maybe the one case of a black woman making up an assault by a white guy doesn't exist, since most black people have better sense than to start race riots. But in almost any common category of crime, especially drug offenses, the racist enforcement and sentencing patterns are so well-established that you only expose your own ignorance by asking for "evidence."

44. I've never been to Pittsburgh.
I would hope that women who make up rape accusations would get lots of hard time, because of the impact both on suspects and women with real cases. But I don't make the law. I assume that Pittsburgh courts like other courts routinely give maximum sentences to defendants of color and minimum sentences to white, middle-class defendants.

This will follow her for a very long time, and rightfully so. Perhaps at some point in the far future she will truly regret it, accept responsibility, and not blame others for her suffering. Perhaps, but I doubt it. It's simply part of the conservative psyche to not be able to accept responsibility.

Filing a false report is a 3rd-degree misdemeanor and, because PA law is unusual, it can get you up to a year in jail if convicted (this would be a 1st degree or Class A misdemeanor in most states).

in my state filing a false report is supposedly 2 years (no one really gets any time, it's probation) but considering the magnitude of what she was trying to do -- steal a federal election -- i think there HAS to be some jail time not just probation

if i were the judge i would talk to other judges but i'm thinking a year would be fair
