PLEASE READ! Gay SC woman has good chance to upset incumbent congressman!!!!

Ten days out from Election Day, incumbent Republican U.S. Rep. Henry Brown is fighting for his political life against first-time office-seeker Linda Ketner, a Democrat.

Buoyed by recent polls that show Ketner even with Brown or a few points ahead, Democratic congressional leaders are buying ads in support of Ketner. They also have put Ketner on their party’s coveted “Red to Blue” list of races they think are best poised to oust Republicans and install new Democratic House members.

The 1st Congressional District race also is drawing national attention for another reason: Ketner is among a handful of openly gay challengers running for Congress across the country. If elected, she would be the first openly gay South Carolinian ever to hold federal office.

Do you really want to see pigs fly?? SC is the reddest state on the map. However, as noted, a LESBIAN has a good chance to defeat an incumbent white, male congressman.

SC may not be able to turn much blue, but this would turn the world upside down! If anyone deserves some support from DU, Ketner would be it.

As a side note, I had no idea that Ketner was gay. I have seen lots of ads from the two over the past few weeks, but I haven't seen that fact mentioned at all (kinda surprising, since you figure they would go after her for being gay, being SC and all).

I did find it interesting how Brown had an ad attacking Ketner for being a "liberal" and supporting gay marriage, yadda yadda. I saw her ad response to Brown's ad, and I just assumed that it would say that she was against gay marriage, and it didn't. And I was surprised. I guess it makes sense now.

I had no clue she was running that close to Brown, either. I can't wait! When I read your title, I hoped it would be my race, but I wasn't sure, since I didn't know Ketner was gay, and I didn't know the race was so close!

I was very surprised to find out she is gay. I would have thought Brown would have been all over that. There has to be a story behind his not using that.
