Jennifer Hudson's publicist says the Oscar-winning actress and her family is offering a $100,000 reward for the safe return of her missing 7-year-old nephew.

Hudson's nephew, Julian King, has been missing since the Friday shooting deaths of her mother and brother at the family's home on Chicago's South Side.

Hudson publicist Lisa Kasteler issued a statement on Sunday evening saying the actress and her family would offer the reward. The family asks that any information be given to the Chicago Police Department.

The reward came the same day police ramped up search efforts for Julian and transferred custody of a "person of interest" in the killings to state authorities.

9. There are days when I hate the human race, even tho I am a part of it.

Too many stories about people who torture or kill small kids or animals makes me retreat for awhile - when I heard initially about the van and the ME request, I knew the poor kid had been dead this whole time that we all hoped he'd be found alive. I hate this aspect of humanity - the beast that did this is the same as the beasts who have always done shit like this. I am not optimistic today.

My only hope is a fantasy that genetic research gives us a key someday to unscramble the brains of people who act out like this; maybe it is a matter of our "do anything to survive" gene malfunctioning. Otherwise, a certain segment of society has always acted out like this, always will, and I just need to quit watching news about it.

The Trib reports the car and body were found on the West Side...not far from Garfield Park...and a very black area of the city.
