Rollins: Palin most Popular Republican
(CNN) -- Republican strategist and CNN contributor Ed Rollins spoke with "American Morning" anchor John Roberts on Monday on the status of the presidential campaigns and the weekend's events leading up to the November 4 vote.
GOP strategist Ed Rollins says Gov. Sarah Palin needs to "gain substance" before she could be elected president.

GOP strategist Ed Rollins says Gov. Sarah Palin needs to "gain substance" before she could be elected president.

John Roberts: It's eight days here, a final stretch. Where does find himself?

Ed Rollins: It's a very steep hill. If he had the money that Obama has and the resources, maybe he could close it. The problem is, he's being outspent 5, 6 to 1.

a better get-out-the-vote effort. A lot of their voters have already voted. And when you put 100,000 people in a place like they did yesterday in Denver, you know there's an enthusiasm for that campaign.

Roberts: You know, David Frum, former speechwriter for President Bush, ... wrote in the The Washington Post yesterday that McCain/Palin has alienated the middle of the country. ... Frum says that they should adopt a different strategy here on the Republican side of things -- to publicly say, listen, we've lost the White House -- even if they don't believe it. Take all the money available, put it into the Senate races and try to prevent the Democrats from getting filibuster-proof majority of the Senate. Good idea? Bad idea?

5. Popular to WHOM exactly?
Rollins seems to think Palin will be more attractive to those with brains if she spends the next 4 years learning to say all the right things ('gain substance').

He's forgetting that first impressions are difficult to overcome. I am not so sure she can scale that wall.

6. Remember this is America where people don't remember what they had for breakfast.
You expect them to remember four years or even four months? Republicans count on people not remembering anything.. their base does not..

After the last 8 years of hell, I hope the rest of America has learned a lesson. I am seeing signs of it all over, especially with the younger generation.

8. Popular indeed!
I'm sorry but Sarah Palin is the most popular Republican in terms of ignorance and arrogance. Every time she opens her mouth, she can provide an ignorant answer with strong arrogance on her part. Just like what she has done to her "legitimate" interviews with the Gibson, Couric and Williams. She keeps on blaming the media on filtering her information, gotcha moments, being too liberal, blah, blah. The truth is she can't really handle it. She does not really know a lot. It seems that she was taken by surprised on everything being thrown at her. She's just basking in her moment.

Ed Rollins??? He has two persona really. Whenever he appears on CNN with his Democrat counterparts like Roland Martin and James Carville, he is sullen and unattached to the topic. But when he writes and alone in the panel, he does it with confidence.

9. McCain and his camp will destroy her after Nov. 4th. They are already
laying the groundwork for it by saying she is off-message, etc.
