We can safely assume that if it were men who got pregnant instead of women... |
|
Not only would it be made private, legal and easy to do by law, I believe people like Randall Terry and Bill O'Reilly would be standing in the long lines to get in.
And for the fathers who do give birth I'm sure the laws would favor more maternity leave time off with stricter laws against retaliation from their employers.
Oh yeah...and the male republican candidates would also use their newborn kids as campaign props.

2. Perhaps there would be no difference... |

Women might be running everything and the situation would be the same with the genders reversed.

5. well, people are just people, really... |
|
so if in your speculation ONLY what we call men could get pregnant (would this be by self-germination or homosexual actions?) then...why have women? If this were an evolved function then there would be no need for the 2nd sex since the other covers all those functions. So yes no doubt those "men" would accomidate themselves no doubt. Of course if it were an artifical situation that makes a difference, and would be valuble as a learning thing to guys about the hardships and feelings of pregnant women.
And then of course you have the Susan Smith's...

6. No, if men got pregnant, they'd be the ones who'd be oppressed |
|
What can I say? I hear that as an argument for why it's okay for women to get paid less than men. Reproduction is a necessary thing for human survival but pregnancy can be a debilitating condition. I believe that's part of the reason women get treated badly. They give birth so they are expected to stay with the children. Not to mention, that women are often seen as baby-making factories and nothing more. If men were in this position, I think the roles would probably be reversed.

15. What would have changed everything is if women had to reach orgasm in order to get pregnant |
|
Oh, man! That would be awesome, cuz in order for humans to reproduce, the female climax would be front and centre. There'd be all these resources for women and men would have to learn to please us and mesh their needs with ours. (Okay, I'm old, and most guys my age DO wanna please me.:bounce:. But it took a few years for them to get to that point!)
And rape or incest would never result in unwanted pregnancy. Ah, if only it were so!
