Rest in peace, Bessie Mae.

Back in August I posted (see link below) about watching a portion of Obama's speech with an elderly African American woman who was a patient at the hospital where I work. (Don't worry, I changed enough of the details that everything remained HIPPA compliant) She was overcome with tears of joy and hope at witnessing Barack Obama accept the nomination as the Democratic presidential candidate. This is a woman whose family member was lynched.

I found out today that she died early last week. I don't know if she had the chance to vote absentee ballot before she died or not. But one week from tomorrow, I'll be casting my vote for Obama in the name of Bessie Mae.
