Why isn't that felon spending his 2nd day in prison?

1. He hasn't been sentenced at all yet. Still on his original bail.

2. You or I would have been led out of the courtroom in irons
We would certainly not be walking around the streets of Washington followed by a heard of reporters and telling the world that this was all a grave mistake.

11. not so.
Seigelman was convicted in June 06, but wasn't sentenced until a year later in spring 07. He was, as I understand it, not imprisoned during that time. He was imprisoned after he was sentenced for nine months, until an appeals court ordered him released pending his appeal.

5. Yeah, I don't ever remember the judge saying "come back in a month or so for your sentence".

12. depends on what you or I was convicted of

4. He'll Remain Free For A While...
As the above poster states, he hasn't been sentenced, yet...and then, I'm certain he will appeal and I doubt a judge will see a high profile 84-year old dude as a flight risk. Even if he loses his appeal, I figure his advanced age and fall from grace will be taken into consideration and he'll probably get a suspended sentence or supervision. He'll never share a cell with Bubba.

6. He's going to jail!
Don't worry, he's having jail built next to the house that was renovated. It's a one cell jailhouse equipped with everything he needs to remain comfortable, and he'll be required to spend an hour a year in the cell, devoid of all contact with the outside world.
He will not be allowed to shower or take bribes while in the cell. He describes it as his "personal hell"!

13. No. He simply hasn't been sentenced yet
This is common for those convicted who are not considered a flight risk.

14. Roast me if you wish, but i hope he stays out.
Make him sell the big fancy house, pay back the cash then be placed on house arrest. In prison at his age he is just a drag on the system.
