Wealth redistribution....
Edited on Tue Oct-28-08 12:49 PM by Bigmack
The new Republican meme - actually the SOS - is that the Dems want to "redistribute wealth". Limpballs, Palin... they're all pounding it.

We know that the wealth has been redistributed upward in the recent past.

Here's some charts that may make it clearer.

4. Who does Alaska take the money from to "redistribute" it?
Alaskans pay no State income tax so they are taking money from the rich to redistribute it to the poor. Do you have a bank account and if so does that account draw interest? Is that redistributing the wealth? I think you should do a little more study and educate yourself. alaskans were smart enough to take their windfal, which was oil and put that money into a Huge bank account and they draw interest on that account and pay dividends from that interest. Wow really socialism right. I don't think you could find a more Capitalistic enterprise anywhere. Yet people like persist in pushing the bullshit almost like republicans do...

3. apples and oranges
To redistribute means to take something (in this case money) and give it to someone else. Your charts don't in any way demonstrate that. All you've shown is the breakdown of tax liability. You haven't demonstrated that any money was actually taken from lower earners and given to more wealthy folks. Sorry.

On the flip side, to take money from more wealthy people and give it to people who don't pay income taxes IS redistribution. A tax break is one thing. But to not pay income taxes, and then collect a check on top of that, is not right in my book.

5. Sorry... if the govt
wants money, and the big guys pay less, who is left to pay?

If spending has stayed level or gone up, and the big guys are paying less... who is paying the bills? Are they paying a bigger share than they were before?

That's redistribution by taxation. Perhaps what moved me to post was Rush today... talking about how taxation redistributes income. For once, I agree with him.
