The GOP should have done a better job vetting its spokespeople. Seconds into the NRSC ad, Victoria Jackson, a former Saturday Night Live member herself, said of Franken: "We don't all write dirty articles for Playboy."

This charge, of course, has only questionable relevance (if any at all) to the Senate campaign. But coming from Jackson it seems a bit absurd. During the course of the campaign, the comedian/actress has said far more outrageous things about Barack Obama, including an assertion that the Illinois Democrat "bears traits that resemble the anti- Christ," is a "communist," a "racist," and is not a Christian.

"I don't want a political label," she wrote on her website, "but Obama bears traits that resemble the anti- Christ and I'm scared to death that un- educated people will ignorantly vote him into office."

Later in the posting she wrote: "We must in all seriousness ask if Barack Hussein Obama could be a Muslim terrorist sympathizer or a Marxist mole. His closest friends include Communists, domestic and Muslim terrorists, racists and convicted felons. In his book Audacity of Hope, Barack Hussein Obama says, 'I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.'""

The entire cast got dropped except Lovitz, Miller and Dunn, so they had a bunch of slots to fill. I can only assume she stayed on for so long because they didn't want to mess with what turned out to be the best cast since the original one.

But yeah, she was always the weakest link by a wide margin. The only thing she was really all that useful for was female straight-man type roles, and Hooks was much better at that, if the skit's concept didn't absolutely require a ditzy blonde.

Seriously, putting my dislike of her "humor career" aside,
it was pretty obvious to me back when she was on TV regularly
that her "airhead" schtick wasn't actually SCHTICK.

Her manager MANAGED to get her a few primo gigs by hyping
her as a 'humorist who did a "dumb blonde" persona', but
that hype quickly faded, as everyone she ever worked with
quickly realized that she was actually pretty damned non-intelligent.




And, given how most DUers know what a snarky & mean-spirited Dick I am,
I feel the need to add that I do not DISLIKE her.
Not even now, after what she's said about this election.

She's not a RW asswipe like R*sh, or Dennis Miller...she's just a
cute & perky person whose relentless enthusiasm managed to briefly
overcome her blatant deficiencies in the "talent" and "SAT score"
departments, and elevated her to 15 minutes of living out all her
little-girl DREAMS.

She's not an evil NeoCon. She's a BASICALLY nice person who just happens
to be long past an ever-so-brief "PRIME" that she's just barely bright enough
to vaguely recall.

So, as I was reading the link I thought that this had to be some kind of joke and that she was trying to resurrect some kind of comedy career. It didn't help that the link was to a Comedy Central site. I had to click on the Huffington link before I realized that this chick is dead fucking serious. Or IS there some joke going on here that I'm not getting. It's SO damned hard to tell anymore.
