Only took 4 years, but there's my 1000th post

I'm not one to go out seeking much attention, but didn't seem right to use it for just another K & R (btw, thanks Marmar, for giving me so many good articles to K & R which got me seems like half of my posts!)

So, thanks to everyone here at DU, a place I found about 5 years ago when I felt like an outsider for being one of the few who opposed the war, while all the media were still cheerleading it on. Thanks to Plaid Adder, Sheila Samples (I think that was her name), Bob Boudelang, Conservative Idiots and the Hate Mailbag, who all kept me sticking around.

Some of the edges at DU might get frayed once in a while (Primaries!), but there's always a calm and solid core to return to, that talks sense, that shares new ideas and new perspectives on old ones. No matter how bad things have gotten with this lawless administration, those are the people that kept me hoping for the future - those are the Americans who exemplified real American devotion to the principles of equality, truth, justice and liberty that reassured me that we would one day get our country back.

I don't know what the future will bring for us when we're brought out from the Underground, eyes watering and blinking furiously, but I'm sure we'll adjust well enough.

.....and I have about 1500 in the past year! Goes to show you how having a legendary candidate can inspire us all!

2. That's nothing...

I'm rounding the corner to 1000 and I've been a member since 2001. I mostly lurked for a while, and posted when I had something to contribute, but for the most part, I just read the posts. I'm really looking forward to hitting 1000 very soon.

3. Took me 4 years, too.

I tend to be very long-winded, and didn't feel this was the place for essays unless I REALLY had something good to say. I also hated to just say "me, too," or "same here" over and over.

But, wow. . . I have learned so much from the DU members and been steered towards places for opinion and news I might not have found on my own. Plus, I love all the pictures and videos.
