Why should we believe anything a defector says? |
|
Hannity was saying on his show earlier that some high-ranking Cuban defector is claiming that Cuba is manufacturing biological weapons. He claims that Castro has stockpiles of AIDS, anthrax, botulism, smallpox, and other deadly stuff.
I'm just wondering, why should we listen do a damned word that ANY defector says? It's obvious that they have an axe to grind with their former country. It's very easy to just make up a bunch of shit that we want to believe. Cuba with WMD - makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Who is Cuba going to invade? Who are they planning on using them on? Seriously, Cuba really doesn't have a single enemy in the world, except the US - and that's primarily because we have made them our enemy.
This goes right up there all these alleged "plots" that we've uncovered from torturing suspects in custody. It's all totally unreliable info, yet the RWers eat it up like so much candy.

2. Fortunately, * won't be in office long enough to get to Cuba |

Right now he's got his sights set on Iran. I'm sure that if he had enough time, he'd eventually get around to Cuba and Venezuela.

Why should we listen to anything a proven and consistant liar like Sean Hannity says? As for the defector, sounds to me they found the Cuban relative of "Curveball". Only less credible.

6. Didn't Bush base much of his pre-war intel on defectors? |
|
There were "high-ranking" members of Iraq's military and government who had defected to the US, and claimed that Saddam was building his WMD stockpiles. Despite not having any solid intelligence to verify their claims, * gave these reports high priority. In fact, many people - including the CIA - warned that what these defectors were saying couldn't be verified!
I guess those Iraqi defectors got the result they wanted, Saddam's removal. Gee, you don't suppose they would have LIED , do you?

"Home" country. When you defect you should embrace the country that took you in and do what is best for that country not try to enlist their support and the lives of their young people to help you get power in the country you left. I have a real distaste for us using defectors as intelligence.
