The Obama Pumpkin is a HUGE SUCCESS (in battleground PA)
Thanks again, DU, and to the DUer in particular who first posted this idea in GD several days ago and inspired me to make an Obama Pumpkin myself.

As always with carving any kind of "jack-o-lantern", you never know until the pumpkin is lit how it is going to look.

Well, without the lighting, I was totally bummed. My "Obama" pumpkin looked like a caricature of a gremlin.

Until I put the lights out and lit it up, then WHAMMO! an unbelievably accurate looking picture of Obama with big lit letters "Obama '08" beneath.

All credit goes to the creator of the stencil, by the way, for how great it turned out.

Now here I sit. Halloween is almost over for another year, and we had a TON of kids. I overbought candy (8 small bags or 4 jumbo bags) and now I have less than half a bag left and there are still probably a few more kids still coming.

And the Obama Pumpkin? A dozen or more compliments and still counting...

These are little things but good sign all around.

Hope. Gotta love it.

I know, I know...I'm still in the Stone Age.

Only differences are I got a big pumpkin so the face and the letters are both on the same side, and my carving is cut, not shaded (which is much harder, and looks more accurate).

But basically, the two sides of this pumpkin are generally equal to one side of my larger pumpkin.
