Does anyone else have the feeling that we are goin to be fucked
Edited on Sat Nov-01-08 01:35 AM by maxpower
again like in 2000 and 2004? McCain seems awful smug for someone who is about to get his ass kicked on Tuesday. Maybe I am being paranoid, but something really stinks here. Someone talk me down. I have done all I can do to get Obama, Durbin and Abboud elected this time around. The little man in my head says they is a doin' transpiring. I can't even fathom a McCain/Palin administration. I have been praying to the Flying Spaghetti Monster to put my mind at ease. But he.she has been of no comfort to me. I appeal to the infinite wisdom of my fellow DU'rs to give me hope. I have predicted all the shit that has transpired over the last 8 year, and I have converted many to to good side, but I think we are in for a massive let down. Please convince me I am wrong. The poll numbers have gotten a little to close for my comfort. Pastafrains unite and convince I am being paranoid. Obama has given me hope and optimism that I have not felt in many years. I believe he can bring this country together, if given the chance.

Peace,
Charley

And say my glory was I had such friends.

2. The Flying Spaghetti Monster does not intercede in the affairs of mortals.
McCain HAS to put on his cocky, confident face, or his already-demoralized-soon-to-be-crushed semi-supporters won't show up to the polls on Tuesday.

That's how the game is played. You don't expect him to go around saying, "Never mind. We're screwed. Don't even bother." Do you?

8. I have an uneasy feeling about how non chalant he is
handling this whole thing. I am afraid the fix is in. Obama is pouring tons of money into this election and that bastard McCain doesn't even care. I don't trust the electronic voting machines. And look at the lines for early voting, I guarantee they are not republicans waiting hours to vote. I know the FSM does not interfere with issues such as this, but we need to implore him/her to help us in this in our hour of need. And of course he is not going to say we are screwed why bother. The poll numbers that have been spewed forth make me think the fix is in. Last week Obama was up by 13 points, but he corporate controlled media has shrunken that number down to the margin of error. What has that dipshit done to make it a close race?

13. I dunno. McCain has no pull with anyone at the moment.
His party doesn't like him--the base never really did, and now they're mad at the lousy, divisive campaign he has put on. I don't see where the conspiracy would come from.

Here in blood-red Utah, the Repubs have definitely been standing in line to vote early.

The polls are all over the place. Some show the gap widening and Obama walking away with it. A few polls show it tightening a bit.

Could we get screwed? Yes, it's possible, but I think it's unlikely. Everything is going against the Repubs this time.

26. Right. Gramps isn't the Bush crime family. He won't have the big guns
to pull it off with any real effect.

Plus, there are people sitting in jail for election fraud, now. Gramps doesn't promise to get your butt released or paroled. It's a big risk that only a few will be willing to take.

Plus, he'd have to rig 6-9 states to win. And, they didn't know well enough ahead of time which states those would be.

But the big insurance is that they know Obama will investigate and call them out. He won't quietly concede and keep their secrets.

He's already shown that in his campaign: He's calling them out for their games and he will talk. Kerry played along, and they knew he would.

I am proud to say I live in Illinois and have followed his career, those who say he is not qualified are full of shit. He is more qualified that Lincoln was, and he did a pretty good job. Both Durbin and Obama are proteges of one of the greatest man ever to serve in the Senate Paul Simon (RIP). Enough said.

But as a glass half empty person, and 2000 and 2004 as a backdrop, I don't have that confidence. I also fear for his life. Some "lone gunman" could end this dream. I am sorry to be such a bummer, but I have a rough day medically, which affects my overall outlook on things. My DU comprade's always make me see things in a different light, and I thank you all. Don't judge me too harshly, I have been knocking on door and making phone calls when my health permits. You guys and girls at DU are my rocks, beside my family. Please don't judge to harsh.

Peace always to my brothers and sisters here at DU

Worried, yes.
Can it happen?
Probably.
BUT,
This is the most determined and savvy campaign I have EVER seen.
If they try to steal it, the Obama folks aren't backing down.
And they know, we have his back.

Edited on Sat Nov-01-08 02:40 AM by maxpower
If Obama comes in with a real Attorney General, they are screwed. And couple that with all the all the executive privileges, both Presidential and Vice Presidential they could be in a world of hurt. Obama is a no nonsense guy, he will look into all of the nefarious bullshit that has gone on for the last eight years. Do you think for one moment Cheney is going to allow this to happen. These bastards have way to much at stake to let the light of day to shine on their criminal enterprise. You know McCain will look the other way. He will merely be another puppet head who will toe the line and let the cabal call the shots. He has sold his soul to be President. That is why I think McCain will pull a Dewey defeats Truman. And the sheeple will accept it without so much as a whimper. There is way to much at stake for a man with integrity and morals to take over on January 20th.

Peace

Its over.

The fat lady has sang.

McCain is so far behind he can't possibly catch up. Mccain will be lucky if he scores 100 electoral votes.

I voted the other day, and based on conversations and observations, 75% of the people there were voting Obama. This was in NC.

Its in bag.

32. Buck up, sparky!
Obama's campaign has shown time and again that they will FIGHT for this election. I have little doubt that the GOP will try to cheat - why should this time be any different? But Obama is not Gore or Kerry - both very good men, but not fighters. (At least not when they were running.) It's like Bill Maher said - The difference between them & Barack is that Obama doesn't have that look of fear in his eyes. He doesn't have that "Oh shit, I'm gonna lose!" thing going on. The reason is clear - HOPE is not just a slogan, but a principle in his life.

As I posted a couple days ago, Democrats are like Cleveland Browns' fans. We've had our hearts ripped from our chests so many times when we thought we would win that we're TERRIFIED of putting our hearts out there again. But like Browns' fans - believe that every time is a new opportunity! This time, we have the team and we have the drive and WE'RE GOING TO WIN!!!!!

34. Yes but not because McCain will win.
But because ultimately it won't make a difference. The things we need to do to stop global warming (to name but one problem) are not actually possible under a Democratic administration, given that they are big corporate lackeys just like the other guys. So, yes, I would say we are fucked. But we have been for a very long time and one election more or less is just putting off the inevitable for a few more years.

It's not that I don't care who wins; it's just that I doubt any real change is possible, given the depths of selfishness of the American people and the revolting sense of entitlement.
