Oh Ha Ha. Chair of FL Republicans calls party too white...contradicts self from August.

Gee, you think? Maybe more Republicans will forced to re-examine their consciences as Sarah Palin continues her rantings on the campaign trail. Someone needs to speak out as John McCain's campaign which is run by Karl Rovians seems unable to control her or to control the hate coming from the party's base.

I was going to give credit to Jim Greer who is running for RNC chairman, for finally speaking up on this issue. Then I read what he said in August. (below)

Our own chairman was ripped apart for days for trying to point this out years ago. His own party attacked him on TV, and the Republicans joined them. Yet it did sink in to some. I heard Frank Rich say it on Countdown, and now Jim Greer.

Fl Republican chair says party needs more minorities.

The NYT on Jim Greer's campaign for RNC chairman: "...On the side of change, James Greer, the Republican chairman in Florida, is campaigning to lead the national committee by calling for a thorough overhaul of the party’s national image.

“It is 2008, not 1980,” Mr. Greer said. “The first message has to be, ‘I want to listen more than I want to talk. As a voter, what is the Republican Party doing right and what it doing wrong?’ ”

Mr. Greer emphasized his efforts to recruit members of minorities, warning that the party’s white reputation circumscribed its prospects. “I have said since I became chairman of the Florida Republican Party that the party needs to focus on Hispanic voters and African-American voters,” he said. “It is the future of the Republican Party.”

I think Jim Greer learned the hard way. He was taught a hard lesson by Sarah Palin when he criticized her.

Florida GOP chair not allowed on Palin's plane after saying she needed more preparation.

Determined not to be left out of the party, RPOF Chairman Jim Greer flew a chartered plane to Sarah Palin's events in Clearwater and Southwest Florida today.

The McCain campaign had told him there wasn't room in the small plane last week after Greer made what the campaign is regarding as disloyal comments to the New York Times last week, questioning Palin's readiness to be VP. There was room on the plane, however, for Sen. Mel Martinez and Gov. Charlie Crist.

..."Flash forward to a hockey arena in Estero, Florida, near Naples, where Greer just finished speaking to the crowd gathered to see Palin and he's now singing the praises of the Alaska governor. He called her "dynamic'' and said she understands what working Americans are going through "She makes more decisions in one day than Sens Obama and Biden make in a whole year."

In the end, he got back in line. What he is saying now will only please about half the Republican Party, and the other half will condemn him.

UPDATED: I was giving him too much credit. Only recently he had this to say about Democrats.

Florida Republican says Dems will "register anything with a heart beat -- anything"

He said this in August, so he needs to get more consistent.

“Don’t be concerned about that because they register anything with a heart beat -- anything -- and our party and these leaders, all of you, have the best turnout-to-vote organization in the nation,” Greer said. “They (the Democrats) might register a lot of people but they’re not going to the polls on election day.”

Gee, Mr. Greer, I was almost going to praise you there. You talk out of both sides of your mouth.

Register "anything with a heartbeat"?

1. The Republican Party veered back into ugly racism this year.
After nearly a decade of at least pretending to reach out to African Americans, it all went down the tubes, starting with the non-response to Katrina and culminating in the McCain-Palin fail spectacle.

In an effort to hang onto the White House at all costs, the Republicans allowed the absolute worst elements of their party to take over.

3. No veer. That party has never strayed from its mark. Blacks, Homo
sexuals and immigrants have always been the "others" and if that party survives for the next thirty years Blacks, Homosexuals and immigrants will still be the "others." Party of Bigots.

6. Agreed. All I meant was that in the past decade they attempted to cover it up.
They've veered back into open racism in recent years.

11. Don't forget non-JudeoChristians
Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, etc., are NOT welcome in the Republican party.

And don't even MENTION atheists around them.

15. Exactly.
They have gone to the dark side to win....pandering to a group of people who claim God as their Co-Pilot. They are filled with bigotry, not love for their fellow man.

The GOP is going to have to contend with them.

I fear our own party may have to as well. That saddens me, but since our party leaders have supported candidates to run as Democrats who are anti-gay and anti-women's choice.....I must put them in the same category of pandering to the right wing.

I hope we don't regret it, but I fear we will.

5. Yeah when you lose track of the concept of America as a melting pot
You tend to attract xenophobic assholes and now they define your party. Congratulations and thanks for that.

The rich are the only minority who benefit from their policies.

13. I see Charlie Crist was standing right beside Sarah Palin in FL
as the crowd shouted "McCain not Hussein."

They say one thing and then give in to people like Palin who are encouraging bigotry.

16. K & R for "Gee, you think?
It's about time they started to rethink their party! At least Palin was good for something.
Don't think their party has looked out the window in 30 years...things have changed.
A real disconnect.

17. All they need to do is watch a Palin rally....to KNOW they need to fix things.
It is scary what has happened to the GOP. I think we need to be on guard about our party.

18. Democrats will register anyone with a heartbeat
Republicans will register anyone wearing a bedsheet.

I guess that whole "universal suffrage" idea never did quite catch on with the Grand Old Party. They like their elections decided by their core 25%, which means they have to suppress turnout to less than 50% whenever and wherever possible.

19. Is that why I am receiving pro-Hillary propaganda for the Rep Party of FL??
I swear they are trying to get the PUMAS to write in Hillary. I could not believe the flyer they just sent me praising Hillary as if she walks on water. I just did not expect this from Republicans.

22. Janene Garafolo had it right Friday morning on Stephanie Miller's show
mooselini's part of the party is the White xtian Nationalist Party and the rest of it is the republican party. Moose has got all of the xtian thugs with her--you know the same ones who would lynch an innocent black man on a Saturday night and then go to church on Sunday morning.

The republican party as we all have known it is about to split in two. I know of a few thugs who've voted for Bob Barr and Ron Paul so far. Amazing that there hasn't been a peep out of the msm about the fact that these two still have a draw this late in the game.
