It will just make McCain look like an asshole. Whats he going to say? "Obama harbors illegals!" Theres 10 million illegal aliens in the country right now. How many people have some family thats here without documentation or let something slide and are now here illegally? I'm sure a lot of people can identify with that situation. I'm sure if people are staying illegal they arent gonna tell a lot of people.

1) The biased Nedra Pickler from AP, who has a long pattern of publishing slimy and lying articles against Democrats is the one who wrote and is pushing this story. Why am I not surprised?

2) Pickler's story was clearly aimed to "confirm" Murdoch, Fox, and Drudge's 1st reports on this, particularly since many people are already aware of the bias of those sources, but not as many of Pickler's.

3) As TPM has ably reported, the most interesting part of the story is contained in Pickler's report:

But note the way in which AP seems to have obtained the information. High up in the story, it reports:
Information about the deportation case was disclosed and confirmed by two separate sources, one a federal law enforcement official. The information they made available is known to officials in the federal government, but the AP could not establish whether anyone at a political level in the Bush administration or in the McCain campaign had been involved in its release.
In other words, it looks like someone in the Bush administration leaked the information, with the goal of throwing a last-minute wrench into Obama's campaign. And someone else confirmed it, with similar motives.

On the record, of course, the Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, a unit of the Department of Homeland Security, is telling reporters it can't comment on any individual person's immigration status. It would appear to be a violation of department procedures, at the least, to leak such information.

4) So, the question really becomes; Who are Pickler's government sources who, at least wrongfully and possibly illegally, leaked this story to her?

Looks like those Aspen roots are still connected.
