Edited on Sat Nov-01-08 12:25 PM by Gilligan
You know it's official if the subject line is all caps with asterisks ---

Did you watch any of the 7 hour long, live Halloween broadcast from Fort Delaware?

1. I love Ghost Hunters...

The special was pretty good. I freaked when Jay and Grant heard that voice telling them that they weren't supposed to be there!!!

4. It was very clear
even the viewers listening live could hear it... like a loud whisper. It was very cool.

5. No kidding...they said it twice even.

The only part of the show I didn't like was that wrestler dude. He's not cut out for ghost hunting. :eyes:

very tentatively connected with GHOST HUNTERS... But then, like most traveling celebrities, he probably has someone with whom he flirts in every filming location...

16. Jay and Grant are okay and I enjoy them, but for my money, Steve is a honey of a teddy bear!
I live in a city where ghosts abound. Everything from a barefoot boy with a kite sitting in a tree to rum runners waving signal lights from the top of an old house on the waterfront.

GH is a fun show.

12. Ghost Hunters is just another spin on the Blair Bitch movie
Which I find dumb and a waste of time. To my thinking the people who watch this are no better then the people who see religious icons in grilled cheese sandwiches or water stains on the wall of over passes.
What gets me is how they measure room temperature looking for cold spots, fact of the way buildings are built, every room in any given house has hot and cold spots.

If people are entertained by people scaring themselves silly, well thats on them. But then I am not entertained by reality programs or many of the other crap being called entertainment today. I don't watch american idol, who can dance, ghost hunters or creatures from the black lagoon crap. But then I am also turned off by animal police, cops, Murry, Steve Wilco, its all crap no better then WWF.

17. Theres been a few programs in the last 20 years like it
I saw the TV ads, same equipement, same ghostly voices yet you never see anything that can't be explained. Aren't you sick and tired of being scared after the last 8 years by now? Of course I also think grave yards are the best places for parking and sparking a date or getting high with the guys. LOL

18. Everybody loves the guy who's more erudite than everyone else
Because, you know, it's great to have someone piss all over your pasttime.

:eyes:

For the record, I don't believe in ghosts, and I'm not interested in so-called reality programming. But I don't go out of my way to make fans of those shows feel stupid, as long as they don't watch them so slavishly that they lose all awareness of politics and the so-called real world.

19. Here's why I believe..

Although no one can ascertain that the show's on the up and up, I do think evidence can be collected scientifically. Also, I've had my own few experiences that make me inclined to believe there are such things. I know that makes me sound like an uneducated barbarian to some people.

OH WELL! Guess I dont' care.

22. 'uneducated barbarian' might be over the top, though to be honest, I'd dispute your conclusions
Anyway, even if the evidence can be collected scientifically, the main problem with the show (in this regard) is that it makes no attempt to do so. If, on Night 1, they get a significantly anomalous blip on the FLIR down in the wine cellar, they should put all of their gear in the wine cellar for Night 2. Instead, they say "Hmm. That's significant," and then they move on. Their approach is entirely unscientific, even though they bill themselves as serious, rigorous investigators.

To be honest, I don't mind the show, and I find it much less harmful than more obviously fictional shows like Ghost Whisperer and Medium, which treat the supernaturally-sensitive protagonists as downtrodden individuals troubled by their "gifts" and by society's refusal to believe. At least Ghost Hunters makes a nominal stab at playing it straight and honest.

And, unless your experiences are telling you to vote Republican or to otherwise harm your fellow human beings, then I wouldn't say that they make you sound like an uneducated barbarian. I can't say that I'd reach the same conclusions that you've reached, but that doesn't make you uneducated.

20. Hey I was just voicing my opinion also the way fear has been used these last
8 years, I just don't think we need to be exposed to more fear of the unknown or unexplained. If your a level headed person that watches the show for amusement, np, but what about the idiots out there that think its real? Remember some of the people who watch these types of shows believe its real and factual, reminds me of the WWF watchers who think they are watching real fights, odd that because these same people hate watching boxing LOL.

Besides the fact that the local crazies were out in full force last night at 7/11's warning young mothers that witches and satanists were looking for children to sacrifice to the devil. Happens every year and every year no child is ever kidnapped on the 31st of October. See what I mean?

15. It was on, but I wouldn't say I was 'riveted' ...
... the 'voice' sounded computer-generated. Thought it was a plant.

Also, wondered how "live" the show really was.

Would have been interesting to see the 'day after' when they go thru all the sound and video to see if there was any actual evidence.

And yeah, the wrestler dude was really annoying.

I think I crashed out about 11:45 pm.

but that wrestler dude was annoying as hell so I finally turned it off and put in my Halloween tape... still one of the scariest movies out there without all the special effects of movies now.

27. My coffee maker is haunted. I watched it all night. It still makes a good
pot of coffee, so I don't mind the spirit in residence. I call him Mr Coffee, and he doesn't seem to mind.
