Stood in line for 3 hours and met all kinds of wonderful people. Was surprised by the large numbers of young people in line and by how MANY in my ultra-red state who are voting for OBAMA!

:hi: and I voted about 3 weeks ago!
I don't know why more people aren't permanent absentee voters. It is easy, simple and a lot better than having to stand in a line for hours on end. :D

It amazes me to see VA in the "leaning Democratic" column! I really think we're going to win VA (although not Henrico County where I live - I'm in Eric Cantor's district :puke:)

31. DH and I voted on October 5. |
|
It was my birthday weekend, we were on our way out of town for a few days of B&B, hiking, and relaxation, and he asked me "What do you want to do to start off your birthday weekend?", and I replied, "Vote for Obama". So we did! Stood in line for 90 minutes in Columbus, Ohio, and voted! :bounce: :woohoo: :bounce: :woohoo: :bounce: :woohoo:
The best part of this is the response I get from all the Repubs who have been calling and knocking on my door for the past month. "Sorry. Already Voted!" Neener, neener, neener!!!

38. I voted Friday after being so frustrated that it had taken me so long... |
|
to do so.
There was a nice, steady stream of people, not the horribly long waits all these patriotic people are enduring to cast their votes.
It went so fast that I was rather swept up in the enormity of the moment. I became VERY emotional and wanted to hug everyone!!!
I didn't though, 'cause this is a very McPalin area. But I had a smile from ear to ear as I exited, and was sooooooooooooooooooooooooo very proud to have cast such a wholeheartedly positive vote FOR someone...for Obama-Biden.

And someone finally stole my yard sign here in California (probably my ultra-right wing neighbor). Late Monday I will put up another (I thought ahead and bought 3 signs). This time I will videotape and catch him (or them) in the act. Doesn't really matter. These Freeper types are really stupid. Last night I vigilled (hopefully for the last time). I gave out Kool-Aid and tin foil hats, but only if you were a Republican. Lotsa dirty looks, but fun as hell!

:hi:
Trotted myself on down to the polls Wednesday before last, actually, right after getting an email from our HR VP that read in part:
(ahem)
"It is extremely important that you know there are many important federal and state core beliefs at stake in this election. Fundamentally, the competitiveness and long-term viability of multi-national corporations (like -company name deleted-) can be damaged by policies made by the leaders in the State and Federal government." (emphasis-mine.)
Of course, they weren't very specific about which candidate would be the best pick for a "multi-national corporation". So I thought about the fact that the company had been absolutely forced to lay me off five years ago and ship my job overseas. I'm sure they didn't want to lay me off (only to let me stay after I applied for a lower-level job that meant taking a huge pay cut). It's just that the mean old government made them do it. And then I thought about which candidate would help out that poor, defenseless corporation and never use those horrible, horrible tax credits ever again as a means of making my company lay off their stateside employees. With this in mind I made my selection.
I do so hope I didn't disappoint my beloved employer in my choice.

50. Early Voted in Orlando, FL |
|
Edited on Sat Nov-01-08 07:10 PM by truthstream
I cast my vote for Obama on the first day of early voting in FL - Oct 20...It was a great sight. I saw two elderly black women with tears of joy as they walked away after casting their vote, causing me to tear up as I filled in the bubble by Barack's name. The line at the polling place (Supervisor of Elections office on Kaley in Orlando) was very orderly. Steady stream of voters - but the only thing that took any amount of time was getting a parking space which only took about 10 minutes...I was in line for about 5 minutes and was done voting and on my way out of my parking space in a total of about 10 minutes. From this description it sounds like it wasn't busy, but it actually was...kudos to the great staff at the Kaley office. My dad just went to vote on Thursday and his description was the same as mine...5 minutes to park, in and out in 10 minutes with a steady stream of voters.
