Senator Durbin's Daughter Passes Away

Christine Ann Durbin died Saturday of heart disease

Christine Ann Durbin, daughter of Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), died today at age 40, Durbin's office announced.

"Christine Ann Durbin, daughter of Senator Dick Durbin and Loretta Durbin, passed away today from complications relating to a congenital heart condition," said a statement from Durbin's office.

"In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband Marty Johnson and son Alex; brother Paul (and wife Jamie); sister Jennifer (and husband Michael)."

Christine Durbin was a 16-year employee of the Department of Agriculture.

Deepest condolences to the Sr. Senator from Illinois--the state that will give us the next POTUS--and the entire Durbin family.

May Christine's memory be blessed and her legacy live on as our country ushers in a new president who was mentored in many way by her dad.
