Free at last, free at last...
Today may turn out to be the crowning day in Civil Rights history.

I was in the South in the 60's & 70's and participated in marches and demonstrations. Today, I see a culmination of the seeds and sacrifices that were made in those frightening days.

God bless us all here at DU and across the Country who worked so hard to see this happen today. To you who think I'm jumping the gun, rest assured that here in a red state the lines were long and included plenty of folks for Obama. Maybe not enough to carry the state, but it was an indicator to me that the polls in this state were grossly underreporting the impact of Obama here.

Take a moment and pat yourself on your backs, DUers. No matter the outcome, we have made history.

2. Well, I'm a white guy too.
I have just been a progressive for a long, long time. I remember when you could get in Nixon's face practically at a speech with a protest sign. Guess I'm showing my age. :)

4. When Obama wins...
I will be proud to be a human. (right now not so much)

But when he does win, we must push him to truly follow the message of MLK...It is time to end the phony war on terror altogether and truly fight for justice for all.
