Report from Mid-city San Diego - steady volume at 7:30 a.m. |
|
I vote in a mid-city area with a VERY culturally diverse population. White voters are probably in the minority. Normally when I vote, there is maybe one other person in my polling place. Today, there was a line of about 5 people waiting and about 8 folks inside voting. The line moved swiftly and everyone seemed happy. I think that bodes well for the Dems.
Felt great to fill in that oval for Obama. I can't wait until he occupies another oval in January!!

3. Reporting from Paradise Hills in San Diego |
|
I wanted to be first in line to my polling place which is right next door. Well I woke up a little late and there were already people in line. My sister was late for work documenting my getting ready to go vote with her video camera. I waited about 10-15 minutes in line to get to the booth. Mostly people of color in line. A latina woman who had just voted came out of my neighbors house and said to us still waiting to vote, "It's great to be a part of history". There were echoes in agreement from other voters in line. We are indeed a part of history.
There were about 10 booths inside my neighbors living room. Voted for Obama of course and a giant hell NO on prop hate(8). I choked up as I filled in the bubble next to Obama/Biden, thinking of all the people who fought and died so I as a black woman could vote. It felt amazing! I have been looking out the window periodically and every time I look out the window someone is walking up to to go vote which is good for this precinct! It's raining here in normally sunny San Diego. I think of it as a great cleansing. Out with all the dirt and rubbish and in with true change! A brand new day is upon us folks!

I got totally choked up too. I worried that the rain might keep some at home, but I think your explanation is much better.
"down came the rain, and washed the spider out...." (which is unfair to spiders).
Great job and welcome to DU!!
