16. He was hoping for that when Hillary was running. She will have that seat for the rest of her
life if she wishes...unless, Obama appoints her to become a Supreme? Otherwise, RFK, Jr. will never have it.

4. I'd be happy with him.
I still think John Edwards would be good, too. What he did was wrong, but so many others have done the same thing, unfortunately.

Edwards would be a top notch AG, and we need someone very strong to follow the hoodlums who've been there.

5. Agreed, But I'd Hate To See Him Leave Chicago
There was an editorial the other day in the Sun-Times begging the next President to keep him here in Northern Illinois...he's still got a lot of dirt to dig through.

I think he'd make a great AG...or David Iglesias...someone who will restore independence in the DOJ and root out all the Goodlings inside.

Don, I do have an even nicer job for Fitzgerald...name him as a special prosecutor to work with the various House & Senate committees with pending investigations against this regime. Give him another whack at Rove and finally remove the dirt from the umpire's eyes.

Cheers...

9. You've got to be kidding! He was a complete failure.
He was not up to the job of special prosecutor.

He had a great case and he did nothing with it.

17. John Dean is a guy who understands standing up when the time arrives.
Patrick Fitzgerald remained seated, and remained cowered by the Bush administration.

He was a eunuch.

Fitzgerald is a very skilled and brilliant prosecutor. The scope and the extent of the corruption and criminality he was looking at could not have been lost on him. He made a choice to put the cover back on the clogged up foul septic tank and leave it.

13. No fucking way.
He is an independent prosecutor. He is putting Illinois politicians in jail. Ryan - jail. Rezco - jail. Vrdoylyak - going to jail (former Chicago alderman, now a R fixer) In fact in IL there is truly no difference between R and Ds. They have divided up the state and really do not compete against each other.

Illinois politics are corrupt to the core. He is the first US attorney in a long time to do anything about it. The newly elected Cook County State's Attorney made it very clear that she will not pursue or prosecute public corruption.

Both McCain and Obama said they are going to leave Fitz in place. Daley wants Fitz gone in the worst way.

My prediction: Obama promotes Fitz inside the Justice Dept. Make him head of the anti-terrorism unit (he prosecuted the blind sheik in the past). Fitz is gone, Daley is off the hook, and the guys at Gibsons and Tavern on Rush can get back to looting the state unhindered by worries of law enforcement.

14. I would prefer to see him as a full-time prosecutor
who has the job of investigating *any* and *all* crimes that may have been committed by the Bush administration.
