3. I got news about the NAVY.... |
|
When I was in, I figure it was between 25-30% Gay, Lesbian, or Bisexual.
There were at lest 3 HUGE mostly Navy bars in Norfolk. My Gay friends took me there all the time: Best music, and the only people hitting on my girlfriend were other girls.

In the Hospital Corps they used to say we were pretty evenly split: Drunks, Druggies, or Gay. YES, I did smoke a bit.
The Sub Tenders were called "The Love Boat" LONG before there females aboard.
My leading CPO was a lesbian and the finest Corpsman I ever met.
What's wrong with the Navy being full of gay people? It was, and they were damned fine sailors.

13. Your posts here are full of anecdotal assumptions. |
|
When you were in the Navy, 25-30% were Gay. Was there a scientific poll done? To use our own DU cliche here: Link?
So the Hospital Corps you were in had those demographics? A medical social worker friend once said, "jokingly," that ALL male nurses are Gay. Does THAT carry any more weight than the things you're saying?
Yeah, Gay jokes about the Sub Tenders and the Navy. Those are really popular at the VFWs. As FREUD said, humor has hostility in it.
Your last two points bring in assumptions that there are SLURS in MY pique. Who said a lesbian could NOT be "the finest" at whatever profession? And who said Gays could NOT be "damned fine sailors"?
As for, "What's wrong with the Navy being full of gay people?"--- Who said there was something WRONG with it? But more to the point, who said it is TRUE?
If I had spouted the Love Boat "joke" I would have been flamed to a crisp.

has anyone brought up the unfortunate slogan/name of McCain's bus?
maybe he resurrected that for more reasons than one as he continues pandering to the far-far right
