AIPAC speaker hopes US gets nuked after Israel provokes war with Russia
...by attacking Iran in a speech given at AIPAC on March 07, 2007

Pastor John Hagee
Author and Scholar Michael Oren
Special Guest Eitan Wertheimer, Chairman of the Board of ISCAR

Who's John Hagee? Sarah Posner can tell you all about it.

Pastor Strangelove
Texan John Hagee may not have his “perfect red heifer” yet. But he does have a huge following, the ear of the White House -- and a theory that an invasion of Iran was foretold in the Book of Esther.

<snip>
In Hagee’s telling, Israel has no choice but to strike at Iran’s nuclear facilities, with or without America’s help. The strike will provoke Russia -- which wants Persian Gulf oil -- to lead an army of Arab nations against Israel. Then God will wipe out all but one-sixth of the Russian-led army, as the world watches “with shock and awe,” he says, lending either a divine quality to the Bush administration phrase or a Bush-like quality to God’s wrath.

But Hagee doesn’t stop there. He adds that Ezekiel predicts fire “‘upon those who live in security in the coastlands.’” From this sentence he concludes that there will be judgment upon all who stood by while the Russian-led force invaded Israel, and issues a stark warning to the United States to intervene: “Could it be that America, who refuses to defend Israel from the Russian invasion, will experience nuclear warfare on our east and west coasts?” He says yes, citing Genesis 12:3, in which God said to Israel: “I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you.”

To fill the power vacuum left by God’s decimation of the Russian army, the Antichrist -- identified by Hagee as the head of the European Union -- will rule “a one-world government, a one-world currency and a one-world religion” for three and a half years. (He adds that “one need only be a casual observer of current events to see that all three of these things are coming into reality.”) The “demonic world leader” will then be confronted by a false prophet, identified by Hagee as China, at Armageddon, the Mount of Megiddo in Israel. As they prepare for the final battle, Jesus will return on a white horse and cast both villains -- and presumably any nonbelievers -- into a “lake of fire burning with brimstone,” thus marking the beginning of his millennial reign.

So you see, John Hagee, who wants to see Israel adopt a hawkish foreign policy that he believes will result in its destruction at the hands of a Russo-Arab alliance is a friend of the Jews.

1. You know I have nothing against individuals practicing their
chosen religion...

However; when domestic and foreign policy is being dictated by someones view of a religious belief then that religion becomes a danger to the welfare of America.

At what point do groups like AIPAC become considered a domestic terroristic threat?

That would be "never", not so long as AIPAC keeps
buying our Congress.

14. I have no use for AIPAC but they are
not a domestic terrorist threat, and it's just absurd to say that they are. Furthermore, it isn't remotely a religious organization. The problem with AIPAC isn't religion, it's the hard right philosophy that they've adopted.

17. I agree AIPAC members are Zionist fascists, the religious extreme right
...are Christian fascists so the two have a fit and a lock on political views

27. Huh?
That made no sense. The suggestion that no other political views but those dictated by "zionist fascists" and the "religious extreme right", are represented, comes as something of a surprise to me. I don't think my Senators, Leahy and Sanders, or my Rep, Welch espouse anything remotely close to those views. Not to mention literally scores of others in political life.

24. Religion or spiritual belief is not a problem... the extremist politics are a problem
I agree with that. People can be very religious or not religious at all, that doesn't matter. If they support militarism and occupation... that's a problem.

25. But they are not against or above
using religion to their ends, I gather.

I am VERY afraid of the 'End of the World' folks. Born Agains, kind on an individual basis if a bit quirky, are a deadly threat to human survival. -And they'll let God take all the credit for their efforts.

THIS bears the silhouette of their conscious and unconscious collision of will.

10. A fundamentalist rabbi in Israel is trying to get animal sacrifice
approved near Islamic sites within Israel. I thought between that and the breeding of the Red Heifer, here's trouble . . .

There have been phony prophets since the beginning of recorded history. They have led a lot of people who honestly believed in them and their promises to their deaths. There were other victims of the fights that they instigated such as the Crusades, etc. But at this point, with nuclear warheads in the hands of people using the concept of God as justification to start a "doable" holy war, the situation is really unsettling. If it doesn't happen by plan, it's going to happen by one stupid mistake by a nonentity which will escalate.

21. "Red Heifer" as in a red cow
Definitions of Red heifer on the Web:

In Judaism, the red heifer is a cow that is sacrificed and whose ashes are used for the ritual purification of people who came into contact with a corpse.

4. This was not an AIPAC speaker as much as a speaker at the AIPAC conference
There is a difference and I seriously doubt that AIPAC is endoursing him. My guess is that his speech was met with concern by the audience. Jews have feared the radical fringe of the Left Behind crowd - and been aware that their support of Israel is because of their views of the end of the world - which includes the Jews, who opt not to convert dying.

I do think people need to hear this stuff - to avoid thinking of them as allies.

The other think to consider is that their are MANY Jewish organizations which far better represent the Jewish population - 86% of which voted Democratic in recent elections. Out of ALL religious groups, Jews have the highest % against the war.

12. So my question is...
Why would thye invite this nnut case to speak at their conference? Just wondering.

Alos this whole thing about Christ coming back to rule the earth for a millenium..Isn't that kinda of contrary to the whole Idea of Forever and ever Amen? I mean the premise here is that the happiness of Christ's return only last one thousand years? Not very long really when you consider the time already passed. One thousand years is chump change.

23. I think it's important to hear nutcases who have the
number of followers these people do - especially to avoid considering them allies because they hide behind strong support of Israel.

You can't fight what you don't see or understand.

Christianity has a belief that Christ will return.

7. Reverend Hagee has been advocating a policy
which he believes will lead to thermonuclear war for some time now. He is vehemently pro-Israel and has said that any country that opposes Israel is headed for destruction. But his goal is not the survival of Israel, his goal is the coming of the battle of Armageddon and the return of Jesus Christ as foretold in the Bible. President Bush is known to subscribe to similar views, and the fact that he has his finger on the nuclear trigger should give pause to everyone.

11. Excuse me, but what happens after Jesus reigns for 1,000 years?
I've always heard that, but what about after that. 1,000 years may seem like an eternity to human beings, but to the universe it's just a blink.

16. That's quite a bedtime story
One problem with this theory.

Russia has no dog in this fight. And they're certainly not going to invade Israel if a nuke gets dropped on Iran.

After that, this tale gets more and more bizarre.

I find it even more bizarre that he calls himself a Christian.

19. I don't believe Russia would either, but early in January Pat Robertson
....told his TV followers that God came to him and told him the following:

<snip>

Robertson Predicts 'Mass Killing'

Jan 2 06:29 PM US/Eastern

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) - In what has become an annual tradition of prognostications, religious broadcaster Pat Robertson predicted Tuesday that a terrorist attack on the United States would result in "mass killing" late in 2007.
"I'm not necessarily saying it's going to be nuclear," he said during his news-and-talk television show "The 700 Club" on the Christian Broadcasting Network. "The Lord didn't say nuclear. But I do believe it will be something like that."

Robertson said God told him during a recent prayer retreat that major cities and possibly millions of people will be affected by the attack, which should take place sometime after September.

Robertson said God also told him that the U.S. only feigns friendship with Israel and that U.S. policies are pushing Israel toward "national suicide."

Robertson suggested in January 2006 that God punished then-Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon with a stroke for ceding Israeli- controlled land to the Palestinians.

The broadcaster predicted in January 2004 that President Bush would easily win re-election. Bush won 51 percent of the vote that fall, beating Democratic Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts. He also predicted Bush's victory for a second term in 2005.

Now we have like-minded thinking running together among millions of followers who are being lead to believe there is a real threat, so they support Bush and Cheney who are openly advocating hitting Iran. This can become a real powder keg right here in America, a 9/11 2007
