Evan Thomas, on Imus, just assured Imus that
1) the AG story isn't a big deal and it's just an inside DC story the rest of the nation doesn't care about it, and 2) the Walter Reed story is "done," over with, has outlived its shelf life.

Newsweek needs to hear from us out here, and Evan needs to be told to report the news.

1. Now being closely followed by the RW talking point from callers
saying that subpeonaing Rove is just a "witch hunt" to get back for Clinton.

2. I heard Thomas - Evidently the republicans feel they are in trouble
as he also stated something, maybe you caught all of it about Imus being thought of as too liberal and McCain in trouble for going on Imus & not Limbaugh. Is Limbaugh's show dropping in listeners?

Also, heard about the Walter Reed not being a story anymore.

Why is it any scandal involving this admin a non-story that nobody cares about.

Evan Thomas was really working hard for the White House this morning.

Did you notice how he was really pushing 300 and the guy behind it also. Said and admitted he did have a conservative agenda.

13. Evan Thomas every time he has been on there starts in on the Dems
and tries like hell to promote Bush. Never any criticism of Bush, always any scandal is much ado about nothing, outside the belway, they don't care. The story is dead. Actually he is worse than Limbaugh or Hannity because he is an undercover shrill for the Reich-wingers.

Not as good as a kidnapped/murdered blonde white woman, but apparently pickings are slim this week.

7. The newsweekly format is kaput - so are the talking head journo-celebs
Does anyone still but Newsweek, Time, US News & World Report - the traditional newsweeklies? I flip through them at the checkout stand, and can see little to distingusih them from the News of the Wierd and National Inquisitor tabloids.

What little serious reporting they do is so flawed by selective spin, propaganda and hidden agendas, I can't take them seriously.

The whole genre is dead, as is that cable yahoo in the big hat. Who cares what Evan and Imus say?

articles on Rap/Hip-Hop, computer games, celebrity tabloid tidbits in the back. Eventually, the grown-up aspects have been eliminated.

TPTB didn't grasp that the 20/30-somethings never did subscribe, and now those my age have no more reason to.

After all, the primary competition for this demographic group is American Idol.

One of the best bits in "Men in Black" was Tommy Lee Jones's line that the Supermarket tabloids are the only papers that carry real news. Maybe those Weekly Weird covers about End Times, Nostradamus, Floods - hey, there's a new Game Show in this - create a new abomination and invite a different plague each week. Live, from Vegas, it's . . .

I got tired of the religious articles. Also, the magazine had gotten thinner and had less news and more ads.

21. that is so accurate - I hope you write them a letter telling them that
It is like Fox TV and Fox News - separate legal entities but ultimately controlled by the same guy - spouting the exact same alternating messages.

10. What is going on with Imus Show? Still harping on the too liberal
Edited on Mon Mar-19-07 07:01 AM by EV_Ares
issue. Is Imus trying to make people think he is liberal. Actually, I am not sure what the guy is. It almost seems sometimes he operates on shock value with the namecalling, etc. However, he certainly is not liberal.

Maybe the conservatives are trying to pull MSNBC more into their camp. Faux Snooze is too blatant so they can have the conservative stealth station because the women commentators (Nora, etc, dont know the names of the others) on MSNBC in the morning are too conservative.

16. Imus is just for Imus
but the people around him are very right wing - and their contributions pull the show right, even when you ignore the name calling and obnoxiousness.

The only value to the left is that he does put on some Democrats and virtually all of them can easily control the conversation - giving them an easy chance to get their messgae out. As this is getting progressively harder to find, it makes sense. They likely do know that he knocks them when they are not there - though he goes far easier on the ones who do appear on his show.

11. Odd that he's poo-pooing an article he helped write.
Wonder what his contribution was to, "Disorder in King George's Court?" Maybe just this line: The controversy was in some ways Beltway political theater. Or maybe he just suffers from Tweety syndrome.

What nonsense - The AG scandal is so indicative of this administration - also the WR scandal.

I guess we can't dwell on past scandals with so many more still to come!

22. "That's old news" is the RW talking point du jour.
On the evening of Valerie Plame's testimony to the Waxman committee the NYT columnist David Brooks was on the PBS Lehrer Report. "This is as old as the Dead Sea Scrolls." was his dismissal of the day's biggest news. "I don't know why we are talking about this."

23. Evan Thomas is one of the biggest shills for BushInc since 1999 - but he rarely
gets called out on it by the watchdogs because he is usually more subtle about his shilling.

He has never escaped my notice since his crappy coverage of Gore and his favoring of Bush and his poilicies this entire time.
