Republicans Should Stop Calling Themselves the Party of Teddy Roosevelt
Edited on Fri Nov-14-08 08:16 AM by louis c
Because you're not.

Teddy was a monopoly buster. He pushed anti-trust laws. He was a populist. Teddy was an environmentalist.

William Howard Taft is the father of the big business Republicans and it pissed Teddy off so much that he started the Bull Moose Party and split from the Republicans of Taft, which represents the Republicans of today, the party of big business.

In the election of 1912, the Republicans ran third to the Democrats under Wilson and Teddy's Bull Moose Party.

Stop using Teddy Roosevelt's name in conjunction with today's Republican Party because it's a lie.

2. Teddy knew the score - read these quotes from him
“Behind the ostensible government sits enthroned an invisible government owing no allegiance and acknowledging no responsibility to the people. To destroy this invisible government, to befoul the unholy alliance between corrupt business and corrupt politics is the first task of the statesmanship of today.” Theodore Roosevelt April, 1906
“There can be no effective control of corporations while their political activity remains.”
ibid. August, 1910
