War crimes and all that--How much evidence are the Bushies gonna leave lying around? |
|
How likely is it that the Obama people could mount credible prosecutions if they were so inclined?
It strikes me that it would be pretty hard to conceal everything that went on in the last 8 years, all the illegal stuff. Lots of witnesses, for one thing. Guards from Gitmo and Abu Ghraib, other lowlevel participants wanting to make deals; the prisoners themselves; various video and photographic evidence; various records left lying around. I think of the precedent of Nazi Germany, where they also knew the end was coming, but they left enough incriminating stuff around to fuel the Nuremburg Trials.
What's your bet on a) Whether Obama will really turn the investigative dogs loose; and b) whether there is substantial evidence left for them to find?

People should know just how much this country's credibility has suffered the last 8 years.

2. Depends on how much is squirreled away in "Pearl Harbor Files" ... |
|
... in the homes and offices and "undisclosed locations" of CYA types all over the country.

3. Man, where have you been? There's mountains of evidence documented |
|
In fact, to even ask such a question seems like you are trying to pretend there is no evidence. I'd cite a few links but I think you're not really interested in reality.

5. I think my point was somewhat the reverse--that despite the best efforts of the |
|
paper shredder brigades, they can't cover their trails. I was just inviting people to speculate on the types of evidence that will be there. I do know all about things like the Downing St. Memo, the yellowcake files, etc., if that's what your suggesting. I think the ton of your post was not called for.

4. The POS could leave a video on the desk in the Oval Office confessing to specific crimes and STILL |
|
nothing will happen to him, or any of them. We need to face that reality. Justice is dead in the US, at least through the "system." I would be willing to bet that not a goddamned thing is going to happen to anyone from the * administration. No serious or effective investigations and certainly not any consequences for the atrocities they have committed. If there is going to be any just desserts for the criminals now in their last weeks in power, it will have to come from outside the legal system and/or outside the United States.

6. As I say, "if they are so inclined...." |
|
Personally I think we really have to do it.
