Conservative 'Doctor' says: Wanting equality is a mental illness!
http://community.feministing.com/2008/11/conservative-doctor-says-wanti.html

This is pretty funny, or pretty dismal, depending on how you look at it. Somebody called Lyle Rossiter, who some conservatives are calling a 'top psychiatrist' and an 'eminent doctor', that 'Liberals are clinically mad'. If you follow the link you'll see he's written a book about it, subtitled 'The psychological causes of political madness.' Here's a quote from Rossiter:

'A political leader who understands human nature will not ignore individual differences in talent, drive, personal appeal and work ethic, and then try to impose economic and social equality on the population - as liberals do. And a legislator who understands human nature will not create an environment of rules which over-regulates and over-taxes the nation's citizens, corrupts their character and reduces them to wards of the state - as liberals do.'
Riiight... It's LIBERALS who ignore the individual! Silly me. I thought denying women rights over their own bodies and equal pay and arguing that hetero-marriage is the only right choice for everyone was more deindividualising than fighting for those freedoms, but I stand corrected.

Of course, the guys over at Conservapedia are loving it. I would highly recommend looking at it if you want to laugh and cry at the same time at the idiocy of its authors, who've answered to Wikipedia, which they believe is liberal-biased. I can't help thinking they're doing their cause more harm than good. What depresses me most is it isn't even a hoax.

2. They always get it wrong
Liberals don't ignore the individual. We fight to ensure every individual has the same opportunities to be the best they can be REGARDLESS of social/ethnic/financial/religious status. The Right uses those things to define the ceiling over each person's head; the Left thinks people should be given the chance to explore and define their own limits.

Let me know if they ever stop lying through their teeth about themselves, that'll be something worth reading.

7. To lie one needs to know the truth. To know the truth one needs to
be connected to reality. More than likely this guy is not lying.

The further to the Right one goes the less connected one is to reality. Not being connected to reality is a mental issue. This guy needs to look in a mirror, then get some help.

3. Problem is, there are many MDs who think they're scientifically literate,
but really they're not. To wit, "A political leader who understands human nature will not ignore individual differences in talent, drive, personal appeal and work ethic, and then try to impose economic and social equality on the population - as liberals do." This is Social Darwinism if ever I heard it. True, all people are not created biologically equal, "biologically" of course being the operative term, hence the emphasis. Some of us are smart; some are not. Some are tall; some are short. Some of us are white and some black. Others are red, yellow or brown, gay or straight, fat or thin, tall or short. Diversity is part of the engine that fuels evolution. In terms of adaptation, what works in one niche doesn't necessarily work in another. So yes, we are biologically different. But under the law, we are all equal. The law is a social contract; not a scientific one. Get that straight, you quasi-scientific pseudointellectual dickheads! All people, regardless of race, creed, color or genetic attributes, are equal under the law! Remember that, and quit thinking like goddamn Nazis! I'd hate to have to beat your ass, but I will if I have to!

4. That's a good point
to confuse equality under the law with equality in every facet of existence is flawed reasoning. No one expects this doctor to run the mile in 5 minutes but we do expect him to be treated fairly in a courtroom setting. He may not be able to think his way out of a paper bag, but we'd all benefit if his mental problems were covered as part of a comprehensive mental health plan which doesn't discriminate based on income, race, or political leanings.

5. Thank the gods the majority of people on earth are clinically mad then
Human nature seems to strive for economic and social equality. Of course, if you continue down the path toward serfdom there is always the other option - it's not the first choice, but it WILL happen sure as the sun will rise in the morning. In a sense, Liberals save the Conservatives from themselves.

The usual wannabe "news" sites like World Nut Daily and TownHall.com

Well except for the phone directory results, that is.

10. I saw one link to a biography that was about 1 line long.
Said he was a consultant to some Illinois circuit courts and "an expert in the insanity defense".

That explains a lot.

11. The crazy doctor is whoring as an expert witness
and trying to make a name for himself to get hired as an $$$$"expert" on the backs of liberals, women and gays.

It's about equal rights and not some red herring about being born identical- and he knows it.

12. On the other hand..
A study funded by the US government has concluded that conservatism can be explained psychologically as a set of neuroses rooted in "fear and aggression, dogmatism and the intolerance of ambiguity".

As if that was not enough to get Republican blood boiling, the report's four authors linked Hitler, Mussolini, Ronald Reagan and the rightwing talkshow host, Rush Limbaugh, arguing they all suffered from the same affliction.

All of them "preached a return to an idealised past and condoned inequality".

13. Fun And Profit In The Parallel Universe
Maybe you haven't noticed, but the right wing long ago created its own media and its own media stars and experts. They usually live inside the Heritage Institute or from some megachurch or mundane sounding "foundation" that is part of the repugnican welfare system...the place many of the current goons and criminals in the current regime will go hiding after January 20th.

Just listen to an "interview" on a hate radio or religious "talk" show...each guest has a book to pitch and some other money making gimmick to go along with it. Publishers long ago found these people will buy pretty much anything or anyone who chirps the right song...and they've set up several publishing houses that crank out right wing claptrap...most that ends up being bulk bought and then pawned off as premiums to right wing websites or into the disount bins.

I imagine with the right wing sent to the wilderness, there will be a cottage industry in all sorts of screeds about what is a "real conservative" or what went wrong or how evil those "librul" democrats are...right now the lies and myths are all they have.

Cheers...

15. Of course, taken to its logical conclusion, this line of reasoning ...
... would lead him to conclude that the constitution is a methodical, but insane rant, and would need to be dispensed with. We are very lucky that people like this have little influence in this country.
