WHY is Larry Craig still in the US Senate and what about his trial?
Did his day in court come and go without any news of the outcome of that court case having been made public? The man pleaded guilty and then backed out on that guilty plea, was he ever found guilty? If he was convicted why is he still serving?

3. I can't believe they'd let a "CONVICT" serve in the senate
Edited on Mon Nov-24-08 06:21 AM by Hubert Flottz
when a "CONVICT" is not allowed to vote. Why would Larry Craig's vote count if he'd been convicted?

23. The senate is a good ole boys club...
had Stevens won his election bid, they would have done nothing to him, either.

4. Craig appealed to Minnesota Court of Appeals; the appeal was argued 10 Sep 08,
at which point the court had 90 days to rule

AFAIK, the court hasn't ruled on the appeal yet

Therefore, he is a Major Republicon Model of Moral Decorum.

If he had been having Diaper Sex with Hookers like other, um, unmentionalble Republicons, then he would only be a Minor Republicon Role Model.

Ya got to take the Wide Stance in these matters (if you are a republicon, that is).

8. Senate Ethics Committee sent him a strongly worded letter in February this year.
He resigned from the Senate in September 2007 but un-resigned that October. That same month it was announced he would be inducted into the Idaho Hall of Fame.

Last time I saw him on TV he was praising fellow criminal Ted Stevens on his way out the door. End of an era, I guess. Those were the good ol' days when cronies were cronies and lawmakers were lawbreakers.

FBI Says Jefferson Was Filmed Taking Cash
Affidavit Details Sting on Lawmaker

By Allan Lengel
Washington Post Staff Writer
Monday, May 22, 2006; Page A01

Rep. William J. Jefferson (D-La.), the target of a 14-month public corruption probe, was videotaped accepting $100,000 in $100 bills from a Northern Virginia investor who was wearing an FBI wire, according to a search warrant affidavit released yesterday.

A few days later, on Aug. 3, 2005, FBI agents raided Jefferson's home in Northeast Washington and found $90,000 of the cash in the freezer, in $10,000 increments wrapped in aluminum foil and stuffed inside frozen-food containers, the document said.

12. Jefferson Trial on Hold
By Casey Hynes, Roll Call

November 12, 2008

Rep. William Jefferson (D–La.) will not face trial before the state’s general election on Dec. 6, as his court date has been delayed pending a ruling on an appeal the Congressman filed over constitutional issues. The trial had been set for Dec. 2, but it is unclear when it will be rescheduled.

A lawyer for Jefferson said the appeal, related to the Speech or Debate Clause in the Constitution, is pending before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and Jefferson’s trial cannot go forward until that appeal is resolved.

our side, but that guy was caught red handed and he's dirty, dirty, dirty.

I suggest we hold our arrogance and our outrage until we get rid of this guy.

14. If he's a crook I'm not on his side.
If he did what the FBI claims he did and the government can prove it's case, it won't hurt my feelings a bit if he goes to jail.

Nobody should be above the law.

I guess the congress-critters figure that, if they make the laws the laws shouldn't apply to them?
