Town Selling Parking Meters

http://www.thebostonchannel.com/news/18048428/detail.html

Several Hundred Meters Selling For $35 Each

COLEBROOK, N.H. --

Parking is free in downtown Colebrook, N.H.. It's the parking meters themselves that will cost you.

The town is selling several hundred old parking meters for $35 each -- that's 140 quarters, 350 dimes or 700 nickels for those used to dealing in change. The meters were removed about 15 years ago and have been piled up in the town garage.

The sale is part of a good-natured competition between public works director Kevin McKinnon and Police Chief Steve Cass to see who comes up with more savings and returns more money to the town's general fund.

---

I want to get one and put it next to the game box!

:P

2. I once owned a book store in a small town that removed its parking meters.
They sold them on the spot, and I bought the very meter that had been in front of my store. That's been about 20 years ago and I long since sold the meter in a garage sale when I got tired of having clutter up my garage.

3. I gave my brother one for his birthday
He loved it. He immediately began concocting evil schemes, such as putting it in front of the bathroom door at work.

By the way, Manchester, NH probably still has some for sale. They're cheaper, and you don't have to go to Colebrook, which is about as remote a place as there is in this state.

I've never heard of Colebrook but it doesn't seem like they need any meters! :silly:

Hope they recoup that money!
